I GOT IT! SOHC & DOHC 4.6 Mustang guys made that exact same arguement when comparing their car to the more powerful LS1s!

Good company to be in.

Nice made-up numbers. Who was your made-up driver when those times came out?

The only difference you will see in 1/4 mile times will probably be the GT500 with a little more MPH. Neither one will be able to get down the track very efficiently. I don't see 2013 GT500 being any faster than the 2012. I mean seriously - what do you do for a car that doesn't have enough traction to get down the track now - another 110 horsepower should help!

And if you guys have never been in a car with magnetic ride shocks, then you shouldn't be discounting technology comparisons. Those things are amazing - the difference you get between just driving to work and then doing some hot cornering is unbelievable. I have only felt them in a CTS, but it is my understanding the Camaro is even better.

Obviously, results for the GT500 are predicted, and I'm being *quite* generous to the ZL1 based on early results (as low as 113mph!). We shall see, but rest assured, the GT500 will be quicker and *significantly* faster in the 1/4.

If you don't think that a HUGE bump in power/weight will make a difference at the big end of the track, you are living in fantasy-land.

The second 1/8-mile counts too, you know. Compare the numbers for our cars, you definitely KILL me on the 1st 1/8-mile, but after that...

ZL1 should get off the line a little better due to superior weight distribution. But at the big end, there won't be any denying the GT500's 6.1 lb/hp vs. the ZL1's 7.4 lb/hp.

Is the reason for this because Ford still tweaking them? I am not current on the status of them.
Nope. The cars are coming off the line (mind you, very slowly), as we speak, and are headed for the press fleet. Many people already have build dates for the next two weeks. Ford is just playing coy. They will release the info when they feel like it.

I would imagine that they are having a great time, watching people stew.

As for the acceleration numbers being the same as the 2012's....................... nope. Sorry. Wishful thinking oh he who still insists that all Ford did is throw more hp at the car.

They're both bitchin' cars, I just happen to prefer Camaros over Mustangs everyday of the week.

What totally confuses me is Ford enthusiasts continually coming to a Camaro fanboy website and expecting a different reaction. What did Einstein say about insanity?

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995

There are ZL1 owners in the 2013 GT500 section of svtperformance.com.

While there are a few ridiculous people there, the vast majority are enjoying talking cars with them. We ask them questions, to get actual answers from those who own them, instead of making assumptions. They are more than welcome to correct any incorrect information we may have............... which is how it should be.

Many of us are enthusiasts. While we may lean one way, we appreciate many many vehicles out there. For instance, I would sell a kidney for a mint 70.5 split bumper (402 please). If I had the money, I would probably have 75 cars in my collection........... from pretty much all manufacturers.

Frankly, I think the world would be pretty boring, if we all just sat around talking about how fabulous we are, and patting ourselves on the back.

Hey................... I resemble that remark !!!! (47 myself)

Ahhh, don't be too hard on Camaro 5 (we call it TSTSNBN (the site that shall not be named) on svt.............. they are great for roll on the floor laughter. Much of it is so ridiculous, that you just start laughing out loud. Unfortunately, some of the worst posts come from the moderators. Some of the reasons they will give for infractions........... like............ "we are not interested in factual information about Mustangs." Yikes.

Tru'dat, if CZ28 is a fanboy site then that makes Camaro5, the crazy jihadist of the F-body community

This is far from the norm. Typically, car companies don't like to let a competitor get the edge on the market without stepping up and offering a competitive alternative ASAP to grab some marketshare.
