2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
"The engine was just recently certified at 662 hp and 630 ft lbs of torque, 16 mpg city, 24 hwy, no gas guzzler tax, 0-60 in first gear!"
Dang....
Dang....
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Lingenfelter did a recent dyno test on both and for some reason, they didn't make the dyno sheet images very easy to find. I know they released them...but I cannot find them.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Whether it's a 60rwhp advantage or a 100rwhp advantage, I wouldn't think a Camaro guy would find it LOLworthy, especially given that the GT500 will also have a 250 lb. weight advantage!
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
It wasn't that long ago when 3400 pound Dodge Vipers were producing 450hp and were well into Gas Guzzler territory.
My old 1977 Chevrolet Monza with the original 305 V8 with just 155 hp would probably qualify for the GG tax.....0-60 in the first... 10 seconds.

Now we have 3800+ pound Mustangs that not only rip out 660+hp, but gets the same fuel economy as a 400 horse, 2006 GTO (or an LS1 Camaro when you adjust the numbers to today's measurements)?!!
Seriously, it's absolutely mind boggling as to how much today's technology has squeezed power out of cars while dramatically improving fuel economy.

Uhhh, no.
Not easy to find?! They're on their site! 3 second Google search yielded:
Brent@LPE's Album: ZL1 Dyno Sheets
This should answer your other question, as they ran one of their cars on both a DynoJet and a Mustang. The Dynojet was 517rwhp, with the Mustang reading about 20hp lower, which is typical.
Edit: Lingenfelter tested a stock 2009 ZR1 on the same dyno. It made 530rwhp.

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
That's one test for the ZL1 - not an average. It may end up being a good average, but I suggest it would be better to wait till we have several - same thing will apply to the GT500 when it actually hits the streets in a month or two.
Jason...best comparison's are made on Dynojets with the same correction factor (either SAE or STD). But then again, all dyno's are different, so there will be variance (hence the need for an average if we're going to race the dyno).

Frankly, the fuel economy is amazing.
As for the dyno thing.................... My dyno is faster than your dyno. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.

The average dyno on a M6 ZL1 is running around 480-490 like stated before. There are a few over 500 on happy dyno's, however, the trap speeds do not bear out 525rwhp.
The 100rwhp more is based on the average ZL1 dyno numbers.
I think the ZL1 is a great car and give it major props. I think the GT500 is an amazing car, and give it major props also. Why is that so hard for some to do??
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Me too. Wanna know why? Gonna tell ya anyway!
I was at the local Sonic last night with a bunch of other over-the-hill, wanna-be-teenagers-again cars guys. We were shooting the breeze, and as is often the case, we started doing some friendly BS'ng about our cars. My buddy said his ZL1 Camaro was the stuff - it'd kick my butt, especially with him driving! I disagreed, and said my brand new not-even-available-yet 2013 GT500 would wax his ***! Obviously the only place to settle this was the track!
Unfortunately, we aren't in Germany and the cars don't swim, so we had to just sit there and continue BS'ng cause running 'the ring' wasn't possible, and that's all the really matters....running 'the ring'....(or touting some professional driver's ring times...whatever applies).
Life in these United States....

I always go with 12% loss on modern manual drivetrains.
517/.88 = 587 crank - DEAD ON the rated power.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Here are some examples I could quickly find
LPE 518rwhp Dynojet, 509rwhp Mustang dyno
LG 510rwhp Dynojet
"Mayhem ZL1" 512rwhp (at Haddad)
Redline 525rwhp (good air temps, unsure what dyno)
Torq 476rwhp with a 145* IAT!
Those were some I could rapidly find. I would like to see a larger sample to see if "490rwhp" is the real average for the manual ZL1s. I only found a couple cars in the 490s, most were tuned autos and one was that last manual on the list after tune.
