Mid 11's with a motor that is closing in on 700hp at the flywheel...700 F*%#ing horsepower and you are running mid 11's! Congrats...you built a mkIV Supra ( I kid, I kid)!

Same with the Zl1...just disappointing..high 11's low 12's...give me a break.

Re-engineer these cars...start over...let them weigh no more then 3200-3400lbs...400-450hp would be more then enough...mpg would jump up...build a real 21st century drivers car.

In my opinion we are officially at the point of diminishing returns in the horsepower wars.

You'll be happier with the next generation of Camaro and Mustang.

Totally agree. Would MUCH rather see increased performance through light weight, design ingenuity, and efficiency rather than continued piling on of horsepower to ever bigger/heavier cars.

Here's to the next-gens! Hopefully GM won't stick with the idea that the Camaro should always be 200-300 lb. heavier than the Mustang...

Current-gens = engine-donor cars to me

There's a big difference between a 3800lb 1970 Chevelle with a 700hp big block and the 3800lb GT500 with a 700hp mod motor and it ain't weight.

The Chevelle will run 9's(on slicks) and get 9mpg, has neck snapping torque and shifts, handles like a bus, is borderline as usable car, and will kill you 9 times out of 10 in a major collision.

These modern 400+ hp cars are locked down from the factory by ECU tuning to give the warranty half a chance. They throttle back on shifts, they retard timing, etc. And they get you 24mpg, handle on rails, total crash safety, and every modern doo-dad.

You're complaining about factory performance when it's the highest it's ever been in history AND you're just tires and a tune away from realizing the real performance of big hp numbers. These cars will be 9 sec daily drivers with less than $2K in em.
