2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Based on what we have so far (mostly garnered from Camaro5....and boy it hurts reading some of that stuff over there), it's looking like 515-ish will be a good average for the M6 ZL1.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
I agree totally in the fact that the technology in the Camaro is what really delivers the knockout blow to the GT500 in a side by side comparison.
Plus it is pretty obvious that the GT500 hasn't been able to best any of the published ZL1 numbers (Ring or VIR) or Ford would have published them by now.

I GOT IT! SOHC & DOHC 4.6 Mustang guys made that exact same arguement when comparing their car to the more powerful LS1s!
Good company to be in.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
The engine was just recently certified at 662 hp and 630 ft lbs of torque, 16 mpg city, 24 hwy, no gas guzzler tax, 0-60 in first gear!
662 has to be the most HP in a American production car. I can't think of any with more.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
"Knockout blow" is funny terminology to describe what a low-12s/120mph car does to a mid-11s/126mph car...

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
A lot of butthurt in this thread or any other about the ZL1/GT500 with all the apologists trying to come up with more and more ridiculous analogies. Like others have said it reminds me of the Mustang guys back in the LS1 days, Ricers talking about Hp per liter when they can't hang, etc.... Be happy if you have a ZL1 but don't try to convince others that an extra 80+hp and several hundred pounds less weight won't have an impact on performance. Every time I read these threads I laugh more and more buy the extremes some of the fanboys will go to. Ford built a more powerful pony car just accept it or go cry in the corner by yourself.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
I wouldn't begrudge anyone for choosing either car.
However, I think the tracks that the ZL1 will be able to beat the GT500 on are few in number.
Good stuff.

I KNOW I've heard this arguement before, where it was argued that the lower-powered vehicle was actually superior because of technology....if I could only remember where I'd heard that........

Performance numbers will come. However, and I have no idea why I say this, I have a feeling that no matter what they say.............. you won't believe them anyway. The ZL1 is all mighty and infallible on the road course.............. you know, the same road course that it will suffer heat soak on in a few laps, and be passed by lesser powered N/A cars.
LOL
Disclaimer: The GT500 isn't a road course car either. No supercharged car is.
I remember not too long ago, when the GTR was belittled and laughed at, for being a technological wonder. My, how things have changed.

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995

Hi Bob!
(Everyone should know already that I am only kidding.)
Otherwise, all BS aside...no one can say that one car is truly better over another. There are so many factors in play it makes it impossible...including simple opinion. I am in the group that thinks this is a great time to live in, and I cannot wait to see what Ford eventually comes up with.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Correct. And one person's opinion of "better" isn't necessarily another's opinion of "better". Even 'better' than that is that neither will be wrong....
