2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
There will be Mustang guys that will strip them down for drag racing fairly quickly. The Mustang drag racing scene is hurting along with the rest of the economy, but is still alive and kicking.

An auto GT500 with a beefed up 6R80 would be the REAL dragstrip killer. I could see high 10s coming out of that bone stock.
In fact an auto in the GT500 is about the only thing that could get me to consider buying it. I'm betting the the majority of GT500s from 07 till today are still just tire spinning, high 12 sec dyno queens.

GT500 don't need gears

And those Goodyear F1s heated up are probably good enough for a 1500 rpm launch.
The auto is the key to keep from breaking the tires loose on the first 2 shifts. You probably wouldn't even want any harder shift than stock.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
The serious part is skepticism over whether it will get high tens on showroom tires. Perhaps it will. How good are the F1's really? They will have to be better than PS2's and Ford's launch control will need to be good to get in the high 10's. The fastest ZR1 I am aware of was 10.66 on some relatively cold day with -1100DA or something like that. I suppose GT500 can get in the 10's if it is also on a similar underground, downhill track

It doesn't need gears, that was just part of the joke.

Uh... are we still talking about a hypothetical automatic transmission GT500 or the actual car as will be produced with the Tremec only?
I'm saying a 6spd AUTO GT500 could be a high 10 sec car.
I agree with everything you wrote above about the actual car.

Hoping the weather is good next week and I get a chance to go to my usual spot to see if any of my mods have been worth the money (stil no DR's went to New York this weekend to see the car show and check out the city so that sucked up my tire money).

I hate to make excuses, but that car was WAY down on power as shown by their dyno - down 30-40hp at 467rwhp. The graph took a nosedive at 4500rpm. Everyone else has them making around 510-520.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Someone on Camaro5 stated that other auto Camaro's show a similar drop at the same place, just not to the same magnatude.
Hennessy has stated that he believes that auto ZL1's will run in the range of 12.3 @ 118mph in ideal conditions. The stick cars will run 12.1 @ 120 under the same conditions.
I'm sure there will be hero runs that will be better for both. Will they be common?? I guess that will remain to be seen.

As for the track time, if the times were run at their track in Sealy (Lonsetar) I would not expect anything near the optimal times. That track is not as fast as HRP, for instance. At least not in my experience.
