alrighty.. I got mine running now. I ended up having some factory GM studs in there instead of ARP's.... So I went a purchased some ARP 3/8 for roller rockers. The Hex is about .050" lower, so it worked out great. Then once I had it all put together I ended up needing to beat the tops of the valve covers up with a chissel. I could see where the poly locks were hitting the covers...

ALSO, the ARP studs were a little longer in the thread area.. Maybe 1/8"... so my set screws were hanging out of the top of the poly locks... That's not good... So I ended up swapping the set scews from my GMPP's to the Scorpion poly locks, and now the screws are just below flush...... If not for that the valve covers would have never fit.

I'm running a Hot Cam.. So now I'm somewhere close to .560" lift... All that's hitting my valve covers is the top of the Poly Locks... I have a set of those custom Aluminum Ball milled valve covers that have about 1/8" more clearane to the top of the cover, but the supports inside the covers won't fit between the rocker arms. I'll be bringing them into work tommorow and have the machine shop cut out the supports. Then all should be fine.

I can say that I am very impressed with the GM guideplates. I had a set of Comp guide plates with some Comp Pro Magnums that I tried out earlier this year, and I had to twist the comp plates all the way one way to get the rockers to line up... With the GM plates I barely had to twist them all... ThunderRacing's description for these guide plates is "LT1 / Fastburn guideplates". So the spacing on these must be a bit different than the Comp or Crane SBC guide plates.

Today I took the car out for a drive to work and back (50+) miles. It was wet out, but even so the engine does seem to have a little more SOTP to it, making power a little sooner than it did before.. The 1.7's threw off my fuel trims though so I'll be needing to dive back into LT1 edit and fix things up.

I decided to give these a shot on my 224/230 car. I'm kinda interested to see what they do for me.
Bump on this.

I am very interested in seeing your gains from this upgrade.

Please let me know.

Hey guys, im interested in installing 1.6rr, i think 1.7 is too much for a stock cam. What all will i need, and how much will it cost. I will be doing this along with the header install. I hate to be a thread stealer, just asking. Thanks all.

Sure thing!! I'll be ordering the rockers around the beginning of next month. Install should come immediately upon reciept. The only thing that's going to keep me from getting it done right away is whether or not the new opti I'm putting on this week fixed my hesitation/stumble problem. If the guy with the hotcam/ported heads combo picked up 15, I'm not ruling out the possibility of me picking up even more since I've got some KILLER heads on the car. Even if I get the same gain of 15, that will still put me up into the 390+ range.

Another FYI, TEA sells these rockers too, albiet for $240. That first posted website is about the best deal going I believe. For those that ordered from the first place, how long did it take to receive them?

I looked into doing this on my car and my engine builder said I would come very close to smacking a piston at close to TDC.

11.3:1 compression

XE 230/236 112 cam

It would have 578/589 lift

****ty.

you sure about that? guys are running over .600" lift (I think atljars friend is running around .608") without any problems on a stock bottom end engine.
