yeah i guess i didnt read that whole post, i also tried using raised ones the first time. i also found out they wouldnt work. even regular flat ones wont work because the bolt holes dont line up.and as i found out by grinding them out a little to make the bolt holes line up. it throws off the positioning of the pushrods making my pushrods getting eaten up a bit. IMO GMPP guideplates are the only way to go.......

The crane plates lined up ok on mine. I haven't taken the valve cover off yet to see if there is any wear on the rods. I'll have to look this weekend.

I didn't pay attention when I got the plates and just went and bolted the one side on. Slipped the rockers on and decided to do a test fit. Glad I did as I would have been hotter than I already was for them shipping me the wrong plates. Fortunately JB from IRS was online and said they had some in stock and I picked them up the next morning.

does it change the way the car sounds at all? will it still sound like a truck with the cutout opened?

I am going with the cc305 due to emissions. otherwise I would run the cc306. I don't remember the specs off hand of the two but would a cc305 with 1.7 rockers be close to a cc306 with 1.6 rockers? That way when emissions rolls around I could swap back in the stockers and be on my way.

Are the GMPP guide plates a direct bolt in?? I may still consider the swap if I don't have to do any machining to the heads to get a guide plate to fit right.

Were those direct "bolt on" or was machining required?

I have a question......if the max lift is gonna be .521", why can't we just use LT4 valve springs?

if you want to you can, i even have a set that is half new, half slightly used. but i decided to go with the springs i have on now. i dont like running springs that close to the lift numbers. thats just my personal way of doing things. so if anyone wants my lt4 hotcam springs ill sell them for the b/o.....

When my heads were being done the porter and a friend were testing the springs and stated that they would not hold up in the upper RPM range. This was with the Hot CAM and LT4 rockers. Again this was on ported heads. Stock should be ok but I'm like the last person. I prefer to be safe and went with better springs as they suggested.

Just so everyone knows i ordered all the stuff I needed from GmPartsDirect a couple days ago. Today I recieved an email saying that the guideplates were on backorder with GM and there was no ETA on when new ones would arrive.
