Talking Just finished my 1.7 RR install

Well its finally done. I wound up having to get different rockers. I bought brand new scorpion rr's and gmpp guideplates. of course after i put it all back together it sounds like one or two of them has loosened up a bit. So i went out to play with the tazzo and this is what i got on bald nittos, slipping trans and needing to do some tuning:

Spinning through first.......part of second
60 ft -2.28
1/4-13.52
mph- 106

all bolt ons org cats with 90,000 on the clock.....
slp 2400 convertor....

so what do oyu guys think? Im happy with it because i can feel a pretty nice difference. i figure with a good trans nice convertor and some good tire shell move out

yeah i did but the first time i did it before the rockrs the road was downhill a bit so it would not be a good comparison.......

wait i just remebered i did make a pass on another flat road before the rockers with the same problems as above...

60ft-2.3
1/4-13.91
mph-103

id say its a nice improvement

Did they clear stock valve covers or did you have to cut them some?

i didnt have to modify my valve covers at all. i do think because a few of them loosened they might be rubbing a bit now because of it but ill check them for marks when i pull them to readjust the rockers.

Thats because doing 1.6-1.7 rr is like swapping cams. my lift numbers are now like around 510-520

you can get the rockers from here:flatlander racing

you will also need to get springs that will handle atleast 550 of lift. hardened pushrods and gm performance guideplates(the ones they use on the zz4 motor) i have the part number here somewhere......

its no problem here is everything you need:

scorpion rockers either for a 3/8 stud(what is in the car from the factory) or for a 7/16th stud(i recommend this)
arp 7/16th studs for a small block chevy you can find them just about anywhere. i got mine from summit racing(they are online)
the springs are isky 235d's(not sure where to buy them since i got them from another board member) you will need l98
spring seats to go with these springs

the following parts you can get at gmpartsdirect.com:

guideplates part # 14011051 you need 8 of them
intake valve guide seals part# 10212810 you need 2 sets of these
exhaust valve guide seals part# 12564852 you also need 2 sets of these.
l98 spring seats/spacers part#10185066 you need 16 of these. i think they are sold in sets of four not sure though
and a spring compressor tool i forgot the name of it but it has two claws and a round handle at the top that you can get at almost any local auto store. along with other hand tools youll need......

thats everything. if you need the step by step install procedure i can also give you a few links for that too.........have fun
