30-1832 IS NOT 30-1833 so whats your point

This thread is a waste of my life.......

When my opti goes out, i will go to autozone and i will try to get the same deal he got, but if it dosent exsist then, so be it, i will have to suck it up and find it wherever else i can for the cheapest i can.....LIFE GOES ON.

Nobody cares who got what deal, IF he even did, then great! I'am happy that you someone finally DID'NT get screwed on an opti swap.

So come on guys, please let my post be the last one in the thread

In InjectedSS's defense, I used to buy an intake manifold gasket set fomr O'Rielly's. I came with RTV and just the 2 intake runner gaskets. Now when I get the EXACT same part number, in the box now comes RTV, runner gaskets, TB gasket, egr gasket, and injector o-rings. The first set I bought from them had this stuff. The next set I bought did not have them. Same part number still but just the runner gaskets. A few months after that ordeal, it comes with everything now.

Autozone probably has to go through the old pieces and sell them before they produce the "new" kit. I'll go and check out my autozone tomorrow. I know a guy on the "inside"!

i doubt they will tell you anything different! all they can tell you is what their computer shows which would prolly says that #30-1833 is JUST the opti! but like i said they didnt stock this item and whatever store they transfered it from was the one that had it #30-1833 brand new in unsealed box OPTI, CAP, & ROTOR! im done here if you guys dont wanna believe me i could give a sh*t less i was just trying to be nice and let everyone know thats all! cant believe what a drama scene this turned into

i can understand if you guys called and they told you otherwise but thats cause they can only tell you waht they see on the screen! and if whoever went out and bought one last night alls im saying is that you must have gotten one of the OLDER units cause this is something NEW that they used to not do! the #30-1833 used to ONLY be the OPTI! but NOW ITS NOT! like i said before thats why it states clearly on the box "ATTENTION INSTALLER, THIS KIT CONTAINS PARTS THAT ARE NORMALLY NOT INCLUDED IN THE KIT AT NO ADITIONAL COST"
Made a few more calles today (2 Jul 03), and here's what I found:

Juan at the Midvale store claims that 30-1833 is not a stocked item in the store and must be ordered. He further added that sometimes the cap and rotor are included and sometimes they are not, and that there is no way to tell what will be coming in.

I also called Dennis at autozone.com. Dennis claims that autozone definetely does not buy 30-1833 as a kit with the cap and rotor. He added, that Wells may package a kit for someone other than Autozone, and Wells may have mistakenly shipped the wrong kits without Autozones knowledge. He also pulled p/n 30-1833 from stock and opened it - it did not contain the cap or rotor.

Dennis's explaination tends to make sense to me. Injected - I believe you received a fluke shipment, instead of the new packaging - and here's why:

1. I doubt they are going to just give everyone a $120 cap and rotor set out of the kindness of their hearts. It's not like they are adding $5 worth of seals, gaskets, or sealant.

2. Seems to me that if p/n 30-1833 did have new packaging which contained the cap and rotor, one of the stores I contacted would have had one - Houston warehouse, Memphis warehouse, and autozone.com are all high volume locations. (Houston area has twice the population of the Saltlake City area, which your kit was most likely pulled from.)

3. You sticker says "THIS KIT CONTAINS PARTS THAT ARE NORMALLY NOT INCLUDED IN THE KIT ". It doesnt mention that the "norm" has changed. It just states that the kit you received has additional parts - it doesnt say that all the kits have changed, or that autozone has changed its packaging for this p/n. I think that you're reading more into that sticker than it actually says.

4. I doubt they would give a lifetime warranty on a complete kit which contained consumable parts (cap and rotor).

I truely wish everyone could now get the opti, cap, and rotor for $130 in a complete kit, but the sad fact is that most people who order 30-1833 (whether online or at the store) will not get the cap and rotor for free.

EITHER WAY i was just stating what i got and hope to be getting everytime i buy one of these bishes!

just like WHITEHOOPTIE said "Autozone probably has to go through the old pieces and sell them before they produce the "new" kit. I'll go and check out my autozone tomorrow. I know a guy on the "inside"! THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE TRUE IN THIS MATTER

Remanufactured Opti with a lifetime warranty is the way to go. The new ones last only 50 - 75 k anyway. If this remanufactured one from Autozone lasts half as long but will be replaced for free, then that is a better deal IMO.

I went to my autozone today. He didn't have anything in stock and I am not going to pay 150 to have it shipped here and not need it. My guy said that the manufactures will sometimes get enough cores and such in that they will add parts to existing kits. Also, if it is cost effective, they will do it to. He said there is no way to tell for sure if the companies are starting to do this or not. I suppose we could call the producer and talk to them about it. I personally don't think it was a freak occurence for Injected to get a kit like this. That would mean off of their line, they would have made and printed one special box for one special part. That could not happen. That company is obviously making them. No if ands or buts. Whenever I need an opti, I will go to autozone and see what they have.

Hey guys I got this from Autozone.com after I entered part 30-1833 in the part search area. I did a cut and paste so you guys could see the response. I have a request to make. When someone finds a deal thats hard to believe would it be too dificult to enter all the details about it and contact phone numbers?? I feel like reading this whole thread was such a waste of time!! as I read this Autozone online catalog response I dont see any confirmation of "a complete opti or just cap and rotor" I dont have an Autozone in Hawaii else I would visit them and tell you guys on this post. Can someone go in person for a visual inspection? Is ti too much to ask? We have Checkes Autoparts here. I will visit them if I dont see any reply confirmation here. Thanks in advance

Marvin

Not quite - The box the opti comes in has plenty of room for a cap and rotor. I dont see why there would be need for a "special box".

No doubt that Wells rebuilds the opti and makes the the cap & rotor. I dont think anyone in this thread has denied that Injected got exactly what he said he did. I'll go as far as saying that occasionally the manufacturer might stick extra parts in the box, but I dont think thats the norm, or that it occurs very often. If Wells did start doing this on a regualar basis as part of a new kit, then Autozone would surely know about it, and restructure the price. They are in business to turn a profit, not to give out free parts, and would definetly charge market value for the parts, no matter what price they purchased them at. Besides, due to the high volume and high turnover in the 3 stores I checked, one of these 3 stores should have had new stock, if there had been a permanent change in packaging. I dont buy the claim that they just havent rotated stock to the new kits...
