I actually work at autozone now, but I discovered this board too late to comment on the thread.

Guess I'll just buy the complete unit when I get my Formula later in the year.

The cool part is I get to use my 20% discount when I buy it though.

Still went for the AC Delco even though I saw that the AutoZone opti was available. Probably a waste of $65.00 all because AC Delco has better marketing than AutoZone parts rebuilders. Both are probably made by the same manufacturer in Mexico or Thailand.

Sounds like you are comparing new to rebuilt. Hardly comparible.

Delteq http://www.delteq.com/products.htm is another manufacturer that has something to replace the Optispark. The November issue of GM High-Tech Performance magazine has an article about it on page 49. Again it is expensive but if you are going to keep your car for three sock GM Optispark replacements this will pay for itself plus you will get much better performance especially if you are racing. Read the story and start saving your change. Does anyone have experience with either of these companies?

Re: Good News For ALL Opti Owners =)

"Limited Lifetime Warrenty" is just that limited IMO there not worth the paper there wrote on. Try to make this as short as i can. I bought a starter from oreillys that had a lifetime warrenty on it and thought that was all great but then it quit on me and i had to replace it free of course except labor, then it happened again. Was lucky they replaced it for me 3 times in a 6 month period. The next time it went out which keep in mind was only about 6 months from when i purchased the first one they told me it was my tuff luck and woudnt warrenty any more for me so i griped and griped till i was Blue in the face, Then i bought one from NAPA and been running the same starterfrom napa for a little over 3 years now. Oh yea this is on a 79 chevy 4X4 and beleive me i have put the whole truck including the starter through some pretty nasty situations.

My point is dont fall for oreilly or auto zones Lifetime Warrentys cause to be honest there crap

Replacing the opti isn't that big of a deal. It only takes 15-20 minutes. If you have an under drive pulley then you don't even need to pull the belt off.
