Grasping at straws much??
I am no insider. I am posting information from insiders from svtperformance.com. Feel free to head over there, to the 2013 GT500 section, and see all of the pics and videos that one lucky gentleman who happens to live 5 miles from Road Atlanta, was able to take. Due to having a Mustang, he was able to go in and wander around and talk to all kinds of Ford folks and even Hameedi himself. There were 25 GT500's there of every configuration and color.
Ford has released NO performance numbers on anything except top speed. They will do so, when they damn well feel like it. However, since we have seen no 0-60, 1/4 mile, or track numbers, I guess that means it will do 0-60 in 10 seconds, the 1/4 mile in 15 seconds, and run the ring in about 10 minutes.
All of the bellyaching from the likes of you, and a few C5 posters is not going to make Ford release their numbers one second sooner. They are probably going to let the media release theirs first.
BTW, the reason this media day took so long to happen, was a snafu between PR and production. Yes, it should have happened a couple of weeks ago.
Now, I guess we will just wait and see what happens. Frankly, I am excited. I love cool cars of all flavors................ including the ZL1.

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
I saw that some guy on SVTPerformance website talked to some Ford people coming out of Road Atlanta in a new GT500 and they were a bit coy on sharing details about the performance. They were asked about the recent video of the GT500 at the Nurburgring and if it was quicker than the ZL1. They gave the same info Ford has been stating all along that they took the car there for testing purposes only.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
What is the current infatuation with ring times??
None on this site (or any camaro/domestic site for that matter) ever gave a **** prior to the ZL1
Even if the GT500 runs a faster time than the ZL1, that takes nothing away from the ZL1 or vice versa.

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Actually, now that more information is coming out from the gentleman who was at the event, it is, basically, that Ford wants the car to speak for itself. They want the media, and owners to show what the car can do, instead of staged events where the only people capable of getting a good time from the car, are the manufacturers people.
I am sure that at some point, Ford will give their numbers. However, they want non manufacturer data to come out first.
A conversation was held with a SVT person, who stated that the GT500 beat the ZL1's ring time. Good for Ford to not trip over their shoe laces to put the numbers out there. Again, the car will do the talking.
Damn, I wish I was there.

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995

Yeah, Evan Smith is just your regular ole, run-of-the-mill everyday driver...

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
What, Ford was supposed to invite media from all over, and leave out MM&FF's??
It just so happens that he can really drive.
BTW, I find it interesting that Evan Smith is the one who got the best times out of Gen 4 Camaro, in a Camaro/Mustang article done with their partner magazine GMHP.
Rumor is, there may be plans to do something similar with the ZL1 and GT500. If so, he will probably get the best non manufacturer times out of the ZL1 also. Yeppers, that would suck.
Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
Actually, Evan Smith is running the car right now. Yesterday was road course day.
DA is currently 1916ft, with a 5-10mph headwind.
One magazine time, with launch control on, was 11.8 @ 121 with a heat soaked car. They are hot lapping them.

11.8 @ 121 on stock tires, with a DA of 1916 is worse than their rival??
Thats odd................. but I don't remember a ZL1 pulling a 11.8, or a 121mph, even with a -1200 DA.

Re: 2013 GT500 Base MSRP = $54,995
So Evan Smith did a best of 11.89 1/4th ET @ 123 with a heat soaked car with 35 passes on it from various drivers, Wow!!!! And that only with 3 or 4 runs he was able to do on it. And this on a non vht track I believe. This car is clearly faster then the ZL1, No disrespect to the ZL1 it is a awesome car on it's own!
