Tired of this RICER vs. DOMESTIC crap
Steve Y, just do a simple search like this:
"Nikes shoe manufacturing costs"
(FYI, My wife is currently working on her Masters in Buisness/Global Marketing..)
I'll just site 2 sources now;
http://www.geocities.com/CapitalHill...3199/nike.html
http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIV...698/cover.html
I'm not making this stuff up, bro, you just have to open your eyes and mind...
Oh, they claim it was $2.51 per pair not less $1, I stand corrected...

this thread has been here so long and ive looed through it prob. 3 or 4 times and ive forgot who started this thread. (it might be better that way). im sorry, but if your "tired" of seeing the Domestic vs. import battles, then dont get on any car sites, dont go to wherever people w/ cool cars hang out at near u or anything like that. this battle will go on for years to come...just as the Chevy vs. Ford battles have and still are here w/ us 2day.
the reason i laugh at all these ricers these days is this....your taking a car that (most of the time) is made as an ECONOMY car...cheap,and gets good gas mileage. thats its purpose in life. then some1 buys a honda civic throws a intake and an exhaust system that sounds like a duck fart in a beer can and think they have a fast car. they think they are so cool and their car runs 16.5-17.0 prob. in the 1/4. if u think thats fast....go ahead and keep up the good work b/c us guys w/ cars faster than that need some1 to laugh at. On the other hand,i respect the cars like supra's,WRX's and cars like that. they can come w/ turbo's (WRX comes w/ turbo) and is MEANT to be fast. another is the S2000,the car is really light,2 seater, and is MEANT to be a sports car.
and for whoever said somethin about a civic w/ a modded intake hanging w/ my car on page 4 of this thread, all i can say is F'IN BRING IT. u find a civic that has intake, exhaust and is lowered and if it performs better than my car ill kiss your @$$. and im not gay,so u know what that means? im not kissin ur *** b/c ur not gonna find a civic thats going to out perform my car...mainly b/c it was NOT INTENDED for that purpose.

i prefer american cars because they are american not because there beter even though those 2002 zl1 are pretty much the top of the food chain i prefer to think i keep my money in my own country i know every part on american cars somehow was touched in japan or was designed in europe but i still feel proud to drive an american car but i give no direspect to other cars for whatever reason but i prefer american and the camaro is definatlly the most affordable car with cheap super car potential in america along with the ta

Find me a supra with 6 cylinders running on no more than 93 octane making 900rwhp and I will paypal you $50 right now. Deal?
i dont see that happening for one thing a supra used runs 20,000 and then you ad another 20,000 in parts and you have a 900 rwhp supra not on pump gas on alcohol mabey pump gas from an airport or racing gas not on premium unleaded
hey, if you gave ME $100, I wouldn't be able to make you even 1 shoe...much less a matching 2nd side. If you're concerned with nike ripping you off, go to payless, and you can deal with not getting laid. jk, hehe. anyways, the group losing out the most isn't the average consumer, it's the sweatshop workers. something tells me their raises are far overdue....
whoops, I didn't comment on the topic! hopefully the line will be blurred as the years pass. the future offerings from both regions look equally impressive as of yet. and I can't wait for european luxury carmakers to upgrade their engines in more models!

america makes cheap powerful cars true sports cars not many can compete with. that a ls1 camaro will outrun any japanes sports car 40,000 and under i lived in tokyo for three years and the when people wanted a real car they went elswhere not to say japanes cars are bad in anyway but a $50,000 skyline is running with a $22,000 camaro not even causing a bead of sweat on a corvette's hood, in all america makes fast cars for cheaper i love america and i love beer.

I've got a buddy with a TT-Supra who had to put a 100 horse shot of N2O to hit mid 12's. And Yes!, he can drive VERY well...
He hooks pretty good too, almost drags the rear bumper at shifts...(Nitto's)
He had an LS1 Camaro SS with free mods, CA and DR's beat him.
I'm sure someone will claim to do a $50 mod on a Supra and run 11's tho....
I can't believe 600hp on 93 octane either, w/o adding some kind of Octane booster. My buddy's tried it with his '86 GN and a little over 400hp. It'll get knock under high boost.

a former local guy that moved across country put down "925whp and 765 lb-ft of torque on 29psi and a 75 shot. made 600 whp at 17psi on straight 93 octane fuel"
i've got no way to prove it as it isn't my car and i wasn't even there, but i believe it.

All you redneck " AMERICAN MUSCLE TILL I DIE" countryboys can kiss my ***,and that goes the same for you little 17 yr old.." my momma bought my civic, but it runs 10s with an exhaust" dumba**es too. I love sport cars ...period. I give respect to someone with a fast civic (they are just ugly to me)...but the rest of those idiots give japanese cars a bad name. And all you V8 domestic heads talk too much **** on imports, cuz frankly they are plenty of imports that will hand you your ***. The civic to me is not a real sports car,but neither was the 55-57 chevy either. That still did not stop people from turning many of these into fast cars back then..huh. Why did they not just buy a vette. CUZ THEY WERE CHEAP JUST LIKE THE CIVIC. Now I love my camaro...but I love japanese sportcars as well. The SUPRA,RX7,AND MR2(91-95) would be on par with our cars stock, but leave us in the curves. My lt1 is a pain in the *** to work on. So we can't say v8s are easier to work on anymore. People always talk **** on supras ,but you need to read up on this car. It trully is a awesome automobile. All the internals of the engine can support up to 900 HORSES STOCK. Yes the turbo, fuel, and exhaust need to be upgraded (not cheap),but considering you would have to do major internal work on a ls1 or lt1 to achieve the same numbers the dollar amount is not too diffrent. Everyone that says most supras with mods just run 12s are full of ****. The guy who owns it just doesn't know how to work on the dam thing correctly. I know a guy here who has one that runs 9.80s and has full interior,ac, can be daily driven, and no he does not have 100,00 dollars under the hood.
I AM NOT DOWNING OUR CARS I AM JUST SAYING CHOICE YOUR WEAPON. They all have thier pluses and minuses.
It all boils down to this. America did not have any sports cars untill they tried to emulate the cars coming out of italy and germany back in the 50s. Even Enzo Ferrari in the early 60s said the only sports car coming out of america is the vette. America looked at the ferraris and porches, and the american muscle was born. Now japan is looking at europe to design thier cars. People say why is everything turbocharged. Ferrari and porche have been doing this since the early 70s. America looked to europe for inspiration....japan looked to europe for inspiration...so in the grand scheme of this Domestic vs. Import thing....
..............WHAT THE F*CK IS THE DIFFRENCE................................
and that was Car History in prospective from professor 2zpoint...lol

It's all supposed to be in fun, like trash talking in sports. If you take it seriously to enough to get upset, then you shouldn't do it. If it adds to the fun, than jump on board the "I hate ricers" bandwagon. This posture adds a lot to my enjoyment of the car hobby. But that's 'cause, to me, it's all in fun. I mean, I don't really "hate" ricers. It's like rooting for a team in sports. If you don't are who wins, why watch a game? It's boring.

I love my SS, but I will always appreciate the turbo-AWD 4 cylinder cars from my days modding the Talon. I may not like how a Civic Hatchback looks or how much it costs to mod one, but I won't hate on it just because it's an import. Some people have open minds, some are ignorant. Bottomline, I respect SPEED and there are plenty of cars capable of obtaining this from the three major continents.
