Re: suposed LE2 heads off ebay came in today

paypal will tell you a month later that they decided in yoru favor, and that they will attempt to recover funds from the seller. That will likely be the last you will hear from them.

Police dont give a damn, they consider it a civil matter even though it is a criminal act that is mentioned in the criminal code. Civil matter means you must sue the guy in a civil court, which is true in this case, but there are provisions to punish such people in the criminal code as well.

Ive talked to cops here who are dumber than a pigeon on crack, but think they are lawyers. They say that when you buy something on ebay, you are sending out your credit card to cyberspace, and anybody can scam you that way.

Like another user here mentioned, if the scammer lives in a small town where the cops are bored, they might help you out.

hmm..some how i doubt he ripped you off on plates. he has 200 positive feedback for his plates. I think getting money back from dhl is the best path for you since they were damaged in shipping

Just got off the phone with DHL. We have started the claim process with them. As for it being mail faurd on my part to file a claim for $1000 for this, I don't see how it would be. I paid $1000 for these heads, that is their value. The damage put a some nice dents in the bottom surface of the heads. Now, if I were to have it "planned" or whatever you would call it, at a machine shop, wouldn't that make the combustion chamber smaller, changing my compression ratio?

Trying to get your money back through DHL might be a little more difficult than you think ... they will only reimburse you if the heads were properly packaged AND you have proof of this. If you've already tossed the original box that the heads came in or any of the contents (like packing materials) before they check it out, then you're SOL - they'll deny the claim without blinking an eye. UPS/FedEx/DHL all have very strict guidelines on how stuff is properly packed up, and if the seller didn't package it to DHL's standards (which WILL be the case), then the fault is with the seller. You're only real hope is that the scammer took the heads to DHL and had them box them up for him (which is unlikely, but you never know); otherwise, you probably won't see a dime from DHL.

That's good to know ... I rarely deal with DHL, but I know first hand that it's virtually impossible to file a successful claim with FedEx or UPS - in every claim I've been involved with, they have determined the packaging did not meet their standards and denied the claim. If I had to guess, someone that pulls a scam like this probably didn't put a lot of loving care in his packing

I believe DHL will only pay you what they are worth. It doesn't matter what you paid for them its what they are actually worth. If not anything that got broke people would just claim they paid $1000 for them. Also most places have a maximum insurance policy on packages. UPS is $100 unless you pay extra for more coverage.

No one gives a sh*t unless something like this happens to them. I'm talking about the authorities and everything. It is not MY fault that someone hacked into Paypals firewall and sent me fake money from someone elses account. They should cover EVERY seller that is verified and confirmed. I will never use Paypal again, maybe :P

If the guy committed fraud and screwed him out of money. Do you really think he'd spend the extra money to insure them? You sure are defending the guy a lot. Are you two buddies? He sounds like a real piece of garbage.

Use a ball peen hammer on the head, that'll really mess them up When you used paypal, did you use a credit card? Checking/savings account? You may be able to contact the bank and see what they can do. The best thing is to harrass the hell out of him by having paypal, ebay, credit card company, etc, continue to call this guy and hopefully scare him into doing the "right" thing.

yeah i bought a supercharger from him and lived somewhat close and never have had a problem with him. I'm just giving you another point of view of how i see some things. If it was me, i would have just bought the heads from lloyd to dtart with like i am currently doing.
