I cut the flares off with about three inches after the flare and slipped them on the x-pipe towards the headers.. this gave enough extension to mate everything up correctly.. you just need two extra clamps. I then used the rest of the turndowns in the end of the bullits.. I got the short exhaust hangers at the auto store and bolted the strap through the back of the rear seat tubs.. I will try to get some pics if anyone else is interested.

Good thread, but yeah a lot of the links are broken. I guess it happens after nearly 2 years.

Wow, this thread keeps coming back from the dead. I almost think it should be made a sticky...
Anyway, since I last posted on here, I now have true duals on my car custom fabbed by Lane in Texas. Unfortunately Lane does not have a jig for LT1 cars. Also, a friend of mine (TransAmGT94 on here) had true duals made for his car with Pacesetter LT's. He bought Jeg's 3" universal X kit with 2 18" bullet mufflers. He drove the car with open headers to the shop with the hardware and had the shop tweak the kit to fit his car. The shop had mandrel bent tubing in stock and had to use one to fit the driver's side header to the kit. They also had to some cutting and welding on some of the bends to get everything to line up perfectly and tucked up. In all, they charged $150 to completely weld it up as 1 piece. IMO, at $350 total that's not bad at all for a custom fabbed true dual setup for our cars considering Texas Speed's kit is $420 and can be hard to adjust to fit well. Also, with band clamps, this setup is very easy to remove off the headers for motor swaps and other jobs that require removing the exhaust. This is the route I think all LT1 guys should take for true duals.
