I am having this same problem, around 5k rpm it feels like I back off the throttle for a second then lay back into it after 5k. My solution is I am converting to OBDI and changing all the plugs and fuel filter AGAIN after 10k miles. If this doesnt fix it I am stumped. I have installed: New opti, TR55 plugs, Accel wires, AC Delco Coil, been through 2 diff. types of coil wires, fuel filter, last but not least O2 sensors. And guess what?? The freakin miss is still there.

I have to go OBDI since I just put on Hooker LT headers and removed the AIR and EGR systems. Also I can only run the two O2 sens. Plus I am doin it for the ease of tuning.

I put a fuel pressure gage on it yesterday and mounted it to the windshied and checked pressure at WOT and it didn't even budge so fuel pressure is good! I borrowed my buddies brand new coil and module and i'm going to try that tonight. I'm also going to take a spray bottle with water and start spraying the wires and coil area to see if i develop any sort of miss or anything. If this stuff doesn't work than i'm going to swap my MSD 6AL box and pill with his to see if this could be the problem.
I'll keep you guys posted.

well i didnt get to fuel pressure test it, the car was too hot and we would have had to burn our arms to get to where we need to. unfortunately im starting to just live with it for now and work on my next problem, which is to fix my amp i might have fried (see stereo area if ya wanna help).
ill keep you posted,

Have any of you guys checked for an Intake Leak? Granted, it seems like an ignition problem at first, but don't rule out vaccum.

The sure fire way to tell is to just hook up a FPG and monitor your fuel and see what happens when you reach 5100rpms. Everyone seems to be swapping out ignition only components. What about the fuel system? Injectors, etc. could stand to be looked at, especially if everyone has a stock fuel system.

I have over the valve cover looms with brand new custom Taylor wires i made. All i have to say is i started the car last night in the dark no lights outside and i was looking in the engine bay to see if anything was arching. (you guys should do this too) I realized that a few of my wires would arch like to the valve cover. (once again these are brand new 8mm Taylor wires) I moved everything out of the way so nothing touched anything metal and took it for a ride at my certain hwy spot and got on it 3 times from a dead stop and hit 6800 with no problems. Did this 3 times and the car was just flying. I decided that i would try it 1 more time and it started acting up a little again. I stopped and popped the hood open again and saw that a couple of my wires were doing the same thing. Would only arch every once in a while. Anyway i'm leaning towards my new wires more and more now, sucks that they are brand new, but this has got to be it. I checked it with my LT1 Edit and it's not lean everything normal, checked fuel pressure mounted on windshied with gage, checked spark plugs, replaced coil and module, no vacuum leaks. I SUGGEST you guys check the wires at night with no lights on or anything and see if anything is sparking. Also take a water bottle and spray down your wires to see if it starts missing. I'll let you guys know what i do with my wires. Sorry so long.

THE INJECTORS ARE NEXT TO HAVE CHECKED ON MY LIST OF BURNING MONEY, FUEL PRESSURE IS FINE, FILTER AND PUMP IS NEW...
ON THE WIRES I STILL HAVE TO CHECK MINE, I KNOW I HAD ONE ARCING ON IT AT NITE, BUT IM ALSO GOING TO CHANGE PLUGS WHILE IM UNDER THERE. ITS BEEN SO DAM HOT. IM JUST TIRED OF WORKING ON IT. IM STILL TOSSED UP BETWEEN USEING MY MSD WIRES or use factory delco wires, my MSD has only been on there for 5000miles but that is when my problem started IM LEANING TOWARDS THE BAD GROUND CONCEPT NOW> im going to check that out
later also/.

I really like my Accell extreme 9000 wires that i had on it before. But since i went over the valve cover looms and long tube headers i went with the Taylors and i custom fit them. I also don't feel like messing with the wires especially when you have long tube headers. All in all, i'm tired of messing with this also. But i will fix it.

just an update.. 11pm ;-(
i just finished checking my car out, it consisted of changing wires, plugs coil wire,
rerouting some to stop arcing, new opti, fixed leak on intake below, lossened rt side rockers 1/4 turn (my freind adjusted those)
checked the grounds on engine, volt tested engine for bad ground, the only thing i havnt done is test injectors. all that in 4 hours and it didnt do SH:T,, oh well the dealer i had work on the car last week left the RO open so i could bring it back and they can try some other things so wish me luck. im wishing all of us luck! (THIS BLOWS,)

HEATH in your case my first guess would be the torque converter.
Sleeper, I'd have to go with a fuel problem.
