If you guys had even one wire arcing you should swap it out.

Wynns Engine Oil Treatment is for sticky valves.

what is the big difference between MSD wires and factory delco wires. i still run the delco plat. plugs good or bad i dont know.
I JUST PICKED UP MY T/A FROM THE DEALER...
THEY DID HAVE TO REPLACE THE OLD OPTI.. THEY SAID THEY SCANNED IT AND FOUND NO CODES BUT THEY REPLACED THE OPTI ON MY WORD AND A T.S.B.-- the technician said that it really runs a lot better but still has a small miss that may be my arcing plug wire and my dirty wire@the opti plug wire,,, ok no big deal. i hop in it hit the off ramp and nail it goodnews!!! the off idle under2000 hesitation is gone but it hit 5100 rpms and fell over on its nose so im ordering all new plugs again.. and i guess FACTORY DELCO WIRES unless one of you instruct me other wise all i know is the car ran perfect with the delco/delco combination SO what do ya think>>>>>>>

you can get MSD,Taylor,Accel-wires cheaper than you can get Delco wires from the dealer-better wires ,too.

Its funny, read through all these kinds of posts about 5 months ago, trying to figure out what was causing my upper rpm miss. Finally changed the plugs and wires, (did the coil wire the last and it was all corroded, probably the only real problem) and it runs great now. Btw, i'd rather rebuild the f-ing engine than do plugs and wires again, jesus...anyway, after that, i'd figure it would be either the coil or ignition module. My buddy's 91z ran like **** for a year until i finally changed his coil out..in my experience i always thought a coil either worked or didn't, but i guess i was wrong...

I've got new Opti(3 wks. old),new coil(2 wks. old),fuel filter, new plugs/wires(1 wk. old and they are not arcing)-fuel pressure looks good and still have a high rpm stumble.

Hey anyone having any luck here??

Heath/Sleeper?

I have been out of town and just catching up on the latest today. I have installed upgraded PCM from PCMFORLESS. Did not expect this to help my problem, it did't, but the car sure does run well with this tune.

I am getting so desperate that I may actually do the Opti, but Heath's experience is not engouraging.

Brian - any news or updates?

Just read thru this entire post, damn you guys complain alot...j/k Seriously I am having the exact same problem with the stumble at about 5100 in third and just replaced the opti, wires, plugs, h2o pump, and headers with no change. I have a good feeling our problems are ignition related, just call it a hunch. I'm going to try a 6AL and coil. I'll let you know.

welcome back bill, unfortunately i have no good news. fuel pressure testing it this week (and trying to figure out WTF i did to my amp). ill post as soon as i know more on the fuel pressure. ive narrowed my search to a few things:
1) plugs and wires
2) clutch just not holding where my car is making peak power (wishful thinkin)
3) valve springs
4) dirty *** injectors, but ive used the injector and fuel system cleaner with no luck
clutch, plugs and wires will be done in 1-2 weeks.
ill make sure to get back to you guys.

i fixed my prob today, I thought it might be the coil so i sprayed it with water and what do ya know the car died instantly. so i took it off only to realize the coil wire looked fine but the last half inch under ther boot was powder. (not good) seeing as it is sunday at about 6:00 and nothing is open i shortend the wire about 1 inch and spaced the coil away from the head because it was so hot i could probably have cooked dinner on it. then i took it for a drive and it ran like a champ thats my story and i am sticking to it lol

HEATH, have you checked your valve springs, do a seat pressure test. If they are bad the car well rpm to a point then stop, and it well feel like ignition is crapped out.

Question

What does this miss feel like? In my car, at WOT, when I get to ~5000rpm, it feels like someone is backing off the throttle to keep it around 5000rpm.

Is this the same problum you are all having?

My Friend had this same exact problem a few months ago and we changed everything (Opti, Coil, Plugs) and it did not go away until se changed the motor and we changed to new Spark Plug MSD 8 MM wires....We did add in new Valve Springs too but We both believe that the problem was a miss NOT valve float and that the MSD wires finally cured it...cuz prior to the new motor install we added a MSD 6A box to the car and notice it cured about half of the problem..

Hope that helps,
