well depending on what tools and stuff you have meaning like ramps, a lift or jackstands, hand tools. the only special tool you need really is the valve spring compressor. and it can all be done in like half a day give or take depending on your mechanical ability

well in order to do the rockers without using an air hold fitting in the spark plug holes(trust me its a bitch) you want to jack up the motor to get to the belt tensioner to get the belt off the alternator cause you need to take it out of the way to remove the passenger side valve cover, and also the way i installed the springs is by putting each cyl at top dead center by turning the crank by hand with a breaker bar so that way you can use the pistons to keep the valves from falling into one of the cyls when you remove the springs. here is the install method i used:http://www.streetillusionsracing.com/RR/rr.htm

I've seen some posts on here where people went from the stock 1.5s to 1.6s and picked up between 10 and 15rwhp.

So i take it going from stock to these 1.7s on a bolt-on car like mine would pick up on the verge of 20-25rwhp? Man then there could be bolt-on LT1s rolling close to 320rwhp then. Looks like I have another summer project in the works

and not to mention they are cheap. 202 bucks is cheap for 10hp at the wheels.

but you have to figure in the cost for everything that goes with those rockers. i estimate a hp increase to be the range of 20-35 at the wheels. too bad my tranz is shot or i would go get it dynoed....

Good deal Matt, I'm glad you've got the 1.7's working!!! I know the 1.7's helped my Bolt-On combo out a good bit. Enjoy buddy!

See his post on the first page. He gives the rundown on everything you need. BTW the part # that reads 102128210 should be 10212810.

I just went through and totalled it all out and with shipping and tax it ends up being b/w $450-470. Plus you have to either buy or borrow a valve spring compressor. They are like 24 bucks from a parts store.

Not as cheap as everyone thinks, but still pretty cheap for ~30 rwhp.

How much more stress do these put on the engine from the 1.6rr's. I was thinking of getting the 221/227xe cam and with 1.6rr's the lift is .542"/.560" what would it be with 1.7rr's? Would it be to high? I was gonna install the rr's before i put in the cam because i won't have enough time to do the cam. So now i gotta try to decide on 1.7 or 1.6.
