Canton PN 15 242 = Pan
Canton PN 20-023 and PN 20-013 are given as the pickups.
20-013 Pickup for SM. BL. S.V. M155 3/4" dia.
20-023 Pickup for S.B.H.V. with 3/4" tube Melling #M155HV.
I'll PM a website that has a good picture of it going onto an LT1 rebuild.
I found the normal Canton site but as you might have expected, the prices direct from Canton are more expensive than the distributors. I have cantons on both my Z28's now. Both are 'road race' style with the wings and mutliple doors. Great pieces. I'll send you links to Cantons site as well as a less expensive distributor.

I can also atest to the fact that the HV pump will suck the stock pan dry. At WOT my oil pressure dropped 10-15 psi. It would then come back up slowly. At part throttle the car ran at 50 psi. Spun a bearing with less the 4000 miles on a forged 355. Went back to a stock pump with a high pressure spring (white) and now at WOT the car has 65 psi and no drop in pressure still on the stock pan. I have more pressure now and no drop at WOT. HV pump and stock pan. BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!

I didn't read the rest of this thread, but something I have not seen is this


HV pumps seem to work good on ported stock heads, but are blamed for"sucking the pan dry" on aftermarket heads

but, 99% of aftermarket heads have smaller then stock oil drain back holes, that limit the volume of oil returning to the pan

therefor, I think what some people experiance is not so much the HV pump "sucking the pan dry", as it is the pump overwheming the ability of the oil drainback holes in the heads to return that high volume of oil BACK to the pan, which still sucks the pan dry, but not on its own

It'll be a standard volume, high pressure spring for me. If it gets John Lingenfelter's (God rest his soul) approval then that's what I'm gonna do.

If you did get the correct oil pan for an HV pump, Wouldn't the pick up have to sit lower in the pan for the added benefit?

If you are talking about the Canton pan then I believe it is the stock depth with more width and nice little fancy trap doors.
