Question Post your idle oil pressure - I am curious ...

As to whether or not the '00's up have better oil pumps !!

(My theory is that they do.)

Also, what oil weight & type are you using ?

Thanks !!

Britt

Mine runs about 45psi at idle and about 50 psi when running. I did try 50w synthetic oil though, but am wanting to go back to 10w-30 Mobil-1 for the next oil change. Just thought it might be better for all the racing I've been doing in it. I read later that it was not a good thing to do. I have a crappy Fram oil filter right now.

I see like 40-45 at idle when I start it up in the morning. After it's been running a while, it'll be at like 25-30 at a stoplight in gear.

Oh yeah, it's a 99

My '98 Z hits about 40-42 when I start it, and then jumps to about 60 when I hit the pedal. I use Castrol GTX 5w-30.

P.S. I noticed most you guys use a dif. oil
(mobil, etc.) any comments on Castrol?

According to the Penzoil rep I used to deal with, Castrol was one of the worst for break down. Obviously Penzoil was rated the best in his book, but their data looked good so I use regular Penzoil in my beaters. BUT, he admitted off the record that the synthetics beat all the dino oil hands down. Of course, he said Penzoil Synthetic is the best, but I still use Mobil 1.

25psi is a normal idle oil pressure in gear.

I run about 35-40 at idle and 50-60 when I hit the gas

AS for the penzoil comment earlier, there was a page circulating around a while back that independantly tested all different oild, and guess who came out as the WORST oil? You guessed it, penzoil. They had some of the worst ratings from all of them, the best coming from Mobil1 and Royal purple

It is going to be higher in neutral obviously, but 25 is normal for in gear at a stop.

When warm the idle pressure on the SS is about 40-42 (according to gauge). It jumps to 55 and up when hitting it.

idle at 22psi, when i hit it, i think it is about 44psi...
i am thinking to get me a new fuel pump
"
255L in line pump kid (includes ump, mounting brackets and all fittings, quieter than other inline pumps without sacrificing flow. This pump runs at higher, a higher pressure than typical pumps , which is required at the LS1's normal operating pressure of 58PSI. =169.99

u guys think this will help bring my pressure closer to 58psi?..I think,.

anyone know anything about this pump>?? hola back!
