Thanks for the help, I have ordered the products.
On your old post of the inside of the cable and you wrote that "black goes to pins 4 and 5" but in the picture itself it doesnt seem like black is connected to 4 and 5? Image below
the black is going to the center of the circuit board that uses the circuit board traces to connect to those pins.
Hi all! This is my 1st post. I need help. I have a 1995 Z28 I am trying to use Scan9495 to diagnose, and cannot get the software to connect to the car. I went on Amazon and bought the cable below. Wired it to a 16 pin obd2 connector just as Gary described (pins 4&5 to black / and pin 9 to the green and white wires). When I plug the cord into my computer it recognizes the cord as a usb serial device and puts it on COM3. When I launch the software and click connect it attempts to connect but fails. I tried different drivers to no avail. I am running the program in comparability mode for win 7, although my computer itself is windows 11. What am I doing wrong, am I just screwed, and out the $$ spent making this cable?
I would really like to get the airbag codes to diagnose, and clear the engine light. Please help, or let me know how else I can accomplish this using a different software?
cable I bought on Amazon is pictured below as well as the ODB2 port on my 1995 Z.
Not familiar with that cable. Gary gave up on the cheap Chinese components, and pretty much recommended buying a complete cable from a reliable source.

I think I realized my error, I’m supposed to solder the blue/white cables to pin 9, correct? Looks like those wires are the RXD and TXD? I just saw Gary said green/white which doesn’t match this cable I bought on Amazon. Green and white on this cable I bought are RXD and RTS. I’m going to try the other way and see if that works. I’ll follow up tomorrow as I bought a new cable that’s being delivered tomorrow since I sort of jacked this one up.

I think you are doing the right thing, It's late here so I am not sure but carry on.

Thank you Gary! So all is good, and I’m now able to read codes on my 95 Camaro. I was able to solder a new cable I got off Amazon and it works great! Had to solder the RXD and TXD to pin 9, then ground to pins 4/5. In my case the wires for pin 9 were yellow and orange.
I created a separate post to discuss the DTCs I’m getting on my 52k mile 95 z28.
