re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

Gary, by using a test light, im not sure what you mean exactly. Im not very good with electronics, but heres my understanding. Should i plug in the connector, then touch the test light to yellow or brown to see which gives me a response? Thats my only understanding, im not exactly sure what to do

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

I mean you can use a battery-powered continuity test light. Not all test lights are the same. Nothing should be plugged in. When you touch the two leads of the test light together to check it, the lamp should come on. Then you can use the two leads to tell where the wires go in the cable. For example, put one lead tip on pin M and the other lead tip on one of the colored wires, If the light comes on, you know that color wire goes to pin M. If it doesn't light, go on to the next wire.

This set has both types. The continuity tester would be the type to use here: http://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece...set-94130.html

This multimeter can do both types and more, but is slightly harder to learn: http://www.harborfreight.com/7-funct...ter-69096.html

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

Sorry to seem uneducated i was confused at first and im not sure why, so i went to a friend with a multimeter and it sounded on pin m to yellow wire. I didnt test any others just got that and went on. Right now im in the process of connecting the wires. That would be yellow to green/white and black to black unfortunately, wont be able to test until tomorrow as storms and rain are rolling in right now. Wont be able to have my computer outside long enough to get what i need. If i run into any problems, ill be sure to let you know. Thanks for all the help

Well im running into more problems. When i open scan 94/95 it says something about it cant find a file. I either can continue and try to use the program, or quit it. And also, it says com 3 is my com port. So i clicked on it and clicked connect and all it says is loss of signal in the bottom left corner. Scanning doesnt do anything.

Are you trying to run the app from within the zip file? You have to extract the files and put them in the same folder for this to work.
Have you installed the drivers for the cable? Do you have the ignition switch on while trying to scan?

Yes the ignition is on, the drivers are installed, and the files are extracted. I have someone else doing this so im not sure if hes done every step but ill check with him as he knows all about this stuff. Its not so second natured to me. Now, the zip file is also in the folder that the app is. Should it be removed? I didnt think this would affect it. Now that i think about it, i might have been using the zip file by accident. Ill have to try tomorrow as im out of town for the day.

I just tried to download this from the first pages link and my virus checker intercepted it saying it had a virus.

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

I am still not getting anything from the app. To be clear, there are many different versions in the folder. We used ver31. It is unzipped and into its own folder. Drivers are also installed.

I plug the usb cable end in, then the end to the aldl port. Open the app, com3 is in the port selection. Clicking connect gives me "Loss of Signal" in the bottom left corner. I opened the instructions file to be sure i was doing everything right. And still got the same thing.

Is it possible its my cable giving me the "loss of signal" because its not wired together right? We tested the ends with pin m and it sounded on the yellow wire. I did yellow to green/white and black/black.

There is no virus. But your antivirus program may be reporting it as "untrusted" because it has no user history in their database. I know that Norton does that.

Edit: I notice that Chrome has an issue, for the reason I mentioned above. Don't you love the way Google is "taking care" of us? You can select "Recover Malicious file" and "Hurt Me..." when you see that option ;-)
The reason you see the error is that I do not own a code signing certificate for this app, as that would cost several hundred dollars per year and would raise the price considerably (from $0 ;-). Google says this, among 4 items, to explain the reason: "3. Can the the identity of the file's publisher be verified? (e.g. via code signing certificate)"

Here are the results of a current Norton Antivirus scan of the download file (it shows 5 objects because it includes the zip file as one and the embedded photo for the splash-screen as another) :

There is only one current version zip file, it is "Scan9495 V1.0.8.zip". You may be looking in the Archives folder.

I plug the usb cable end in, then the end to the aldl port. Open the app, com3 is in the port selection. Clicking connect gives me "Loss of Signal" in the bottom left corner. I opened the instructions file to be sure i was doing everything right. And still got the same thing.

Do this: Start Scan9495 without the cable connected to anything. Note what is in the Com ports pull-down box. There may be "no ports" or one or more port(s) Then plug in the cable and wait 30 seconds at least or until the pc makes the "new hardware" sound. Click on the "Com ports" label and see if anything was added to the list. If not, you do not have the drivers loaded correctly. If there is a new entry in the Com ports pull-down list, select that one and try again. You may have one or more virtual com ports on the pc already. I have one for my printer.

Yes it is. Use the multimeter to check the black wire to make sure it goes to pin A. Generally it is best to check all wires and pins to make sure none are internally connected together.

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

I just tried it again and it downloaded successfully

I wonder if you could port this application over to an Android like "Torque" does for OBDII?
Thanks for all your work on this!
Dave

Don't have to, ALDLdroid does that already. Check it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roux.aldldroid

Im having issues with the program. Is it ok to post here? If not, move to correct forum please.

When i plug my cable into the car and computer then start the software, it wont read anything. I tried to go in and uninstall it to redo it but its not listed in the programs. Not sure what to do.

1. What cable are you using?
2. Have you installed the drivers for the cable?
3. What is the revision date of the drivers?

There is nothing to uninstall for the main app; it is only two files.
