The name thing should be no problem. They can just call it a CAM"E"RO like half the general populace already seems to do. Phonetically it sounds the same.

OK, I haven't been here much lately so I'm a little behind (although I did read the post Gunion left yesterday, nothing new in it, I'm suprised it was jerked). I've missed something though: why can't they just make the new Camaro in the Canadian plant? Sounds like it maybe a bit outdated. Can it not be refitted?

Ste Therese has a capacity of something like 230,000 vehicles per year. F-bodies were running around 60-70,000 per year.

Excess capacity = losses.

The Oshawa plants, on the other hand, probably produces more vehicles alone than all of Chrysler, and is setting new standards for running efficiently for their sizes. All "W" and "midlux" cars are produced there among other things.

Thumbs down

dont follow the import trend and give it an alphaneumeric name.

If theres no possible way to call it a camaro, name it something else. How about the Mongoose?

and I agree with what someone else said about the ford gt and "GT what?" GT is fords performance code... not a name for a car. Just like SS is a performance code availible on almost every vehicle.... even aveos

Personally since I wont be graduating from college for a while, Id rather GM holds off and gets it right.

???

I'm all for seeing the Camaro make a comeback in the next few years, though if it's really going to be that much of an issue, I could understand a name change, but then it should be its own car and not:

-Take cues from the previous generations of Camaro
and
-Be a thrown together pile of "heritage styling."

Just my opinion though.

What's GM's situation with the Chevelle moniker? I hear they have the rights to that name again. Also,(sorry to be off-topic) how does that affect the band Chevelle? I believe they only got away with that name because GM no longer owned the rights to it.

Sorry, but I'm still trying to understand a lot of this legal stuff.

Guion, goos to see you're back, you're a wealth of knowledge and an asset to this board!

Well, I seem to recall a discussion not long ago that GM possibly had or will have a capacity problem. Can't they make more than one care there?

I think Chevelle (the band) got its name from the car. Fond memories from working on them in the past influenced the name. I doubt they would mind having a car that shares their name.

I was thinking the other way around. Thought GM might mind them using a GM name.

I'm not for a name change. Part of why I love the Camaro is it's history and heritage.

If a new-car looks like a Camaro, but is called something else, it won't be the same IMO.

If it comes down to that, I might as well buy a Corvette, or worse... a MUSTANG!

So if the 5th Gen turns out to be everything we want it to be, but with a different name, you would buy a Mustang? isn't that a little extreme? I want the Camaro name back too but it is the car that really matters.

What if the V6 model has one name and the V8 is just called "Z28"

Stop worring about the name change, and send in your off-the-charts, off the wall, "I'm-an-over-the-top-Camaro-nut" and "what the Camaro name means to me" pictures!

There's a reason why you are sending it to General Motors, to the Camaro BRAND, and not RP's house or PO box.

Does anyone need someone to draw pictures or connect the dots for ya?

LOL!!

And BTW GM, guess what I'm gonna do right now..........CAMARO! That's right I said it, and you can't do anything about it. This stuff is getting a little too wacky. Now I'm really gonna mess them up............We Know The 5th Gen Camaro Is Coming Even Though You Deny It! (and it better be good )
