No, I won't name names and don't ask it won't happen. We email and talk occasionally. I ask and he sometimes tells me things. Whether or not they are true. Don't know. What I do know is that I'm not a troll and I tend to believe my friend.
What else do you want me to say. He says no car with the name Camaro is planned. Some of that has to do with the politics involved at the St. Therese plant in Canada. Chevy Hiperf car based on the SS concept. What can I say.

B: due to the fact that there was a contract No one from GM can say the Camaro is back BEFORE 2006.
C: There are people in GM that has told us that There is a CONCEPT car in GM right now that is a RWD 2DR But they dont know what name they are going to put on it.
Oh For your information Why in the Heck would GM put a Chevelle out there unless they kill off the Malbu?

Maybe RP can confirm the SS possibility?

But you also stated that he said no car named Camaro is currently being planed. With that in mind, the C5 wasn’t always called Corvette or C5 in its development.
Do some more research around here though. Everything you have stated and was just sated before my post a lot has changed with the St. Therese plant situation

I know the plant is closed. But there was alot of negotiations, politics and money involved.
Well. FYI I do like Camaro's and Firebirds. I owned a 68 Firebird and 87 Camaro. So don't get me wrong here. Everyone has an opinion on the subject. I just gave mine based on my source.
Let's meet back here in two years and then see who is right. If I'm wrong. So what? Life goes on.

We have people on this site that are very high up.
We knew about the GTO over a year before it was announced to the public for example.
On a side note NV, don’t let us chase you away. If you have someone on the inside and you have an interest in the next gen your more than welcome to stay here.
I think the regulars get a bit cocky because se know so much. Do some searches, soak up some info, go talk to your friend, bring more to the table around here. We love fresh info.
Just remember though, until this car hits the show room nothing is set in stone.

There's a big difference between someone whose posted over 2000 times and has proven time and time again to have very reliable info and someone who's only posted 30-40 times to come in from 'nowhere' (so to speak') and claim they know something for a fact which is quite contradictory to what has been pieced together from various, proven reliable sources over the past 1-1/2 years.
That a good friend of your's works at Tech Center in the whole isn't a strong source to build a rep on. The others here who regularly have info have inside sources at very, very high levels. As far as most of GM's employees oficially know or are aware, there is no planned return. That doesn't nessesarily mean it is a fact.

Well, I don't mean to disrespect anyone or anything. I'm just throwing in my 2 cents based on what I know, or don't know. My friend is more than a pencil pusher BTW. And yes, he could be wrong. And yes you could be wrong.
We will know the answer in 2006 I suppose.

Bottom line here is that Nikivee is saying most of the same things that we've been discussing for some time...
!. NO-ONE who values their job at GM will say ANYTHING about the Camaro's return...
2. Some (Lutz) will even go so far as to spread dis-information.
3. The prospect of the name being changed is real....
BUT, to say as a matter of fact that the Camaro is not coming back is premature at best and mis-informed at worst....

Hey, look, it's simple. The number of posts on a web board is like the number of times you've met someone. The more times you've 'met' the more you know that person and think you can or can't trust them.
So when someone with only 39 posts tells us 'not to kid ourselves' it's not coming back, which flies in the face of people with over 2000 posts saying much different and proven to be much more right than wrong, well, how could you NOT expect a bunch of us to be 'who the hell are you.' Yes, it's all speculation. But the majority of the speculation has been positive.
AND, a final thought, that speculation indicates we'll see who's right and wrong in '07 or '08. I don't think anyone here anymore expects to see anything official for '06.
