All this "talk" is fine and dandy. I do heartily suggest you do the "homework" assignment.
Talk about loving the f-body, fine... guess and postulate, sure...
DO the homework assignment or refrain from complaint down the road.
No homework and I guarantee you won't "make the grade"...
What Red has asked is earnest and I guarantee it's IMPORTANT.
" A rose by any other name"... mmmm any Shakespeare fans here?

Don't expect the reskin to be spectacular or ground breaking. Impala is selling very well as is, and both cars will be replaced in 2009 or 2010 (just a 3-4 year run vs. the current version's 8). Monte Carlo won't be changed before then, so you can remove the MC name from the short list of what Chevy's sport coupe will be called when it gets here in '08.
Impy is going to mid-lux, so expect a semi-fastback like the Grand Prix & LaCrosse. Both Impala & Monte Carlo will have the 5.3 V8 in the SS.

Just to put everyone's mind at ease, the 2006 Monte Carlo redesign will still be with us in 2008.
Read into that whatever you wish.

So some other name will have to be used instead...

so very true. in fact, just the other day i saw scott settlemire driving a new mustang. he was at a stop light ( i was right next to him in my z28) and i heard him yell out, "I love this mustang!" You should have seen the smile on his face. It kind of made me feel like a was a red headed bastard child left at the supermarket by my trusted parents. I can't really talk about it any more. I still get a lump in the back of my throat when I try to hold back my tears.
sorry

OK OK...I confess......
Little known fact.....GM buys at least one of just about everything out there....in some cases, several.
Our entire team would drive Mustangs, Eclipses, and Celicas....and that's important when you're working on a car and want to make "the best."
(yup....would put on a disguise.........)
Constantly reaching for the shifter in a Mustang and shifting my coffee cup/bottle of water/can of soda.....
When we launched the 1998 Mid Cycle, we did a telecast to GM locations around the country.....I was demonstrating the composite door panels on the Camaro...whacked it really hard with a rubber hammer (don't try this at home...you can scratch the paint if you're not careful).....a few people in the audience gasped...(a few screams) and then I did it to the Mustang.
----had to explain to the Proving Grounds WHY they needed to replace a door panel on one of their competitive models fleet........
(another reason why I'm always in GM Jail.......)
