What is the price difference for base Mustang vs Base Camaro? V6 and V8.

Once the options start, and unless those options are essentially the same, then comparisons start to lose objective validity, as it comes down to what individuals want.

And it is possible that 2011 Camaro prices will be different than 2010. Perhaps someone knows that?

If the track pack is standard the only options I would opt for are the brembo brakes and 3.73 gear.

Hopefully Ford doesn't do like Nissan and make it in a package so you have to spend $4k on a package to get a $400 option you want. I just want the 255's and the 3.73's. I really like that the Mustang will have the same size tires front and back which I can rotate hopefully, The Camaro has different size front and back with no rotation possible. Possibly getting a few thousand more miles out of the tires is a big plus to me considering how expensive those things are.

I *might* get the 3.73 gears. That would be the only option I'd get.

If I were ordering an SS, I wouldn't get any options. Ditto a Vette.

But that's just me.

i would probably only opt for the 3.73's and leave the stock brakes and get even wider aftermarket wheels for fatter tires. I dont see much use for the brembo upgrade.

RS package is a must-have for me. The car just doesn't look right without the HIDs.

Oh, and Z51 suspension is a must for me on a Corvette (which means I'd have to buy a Grand Sport if I wanted a 2010).

I totally agree. I would like to see an upgrade kit or something available from GM. I think they left a huge cash cow on the table by not planning to offer the HID's as a kit through SPO. But that is a separate thread...

Without that Brembo package the mustang will not be pulling those .97 G's on the skid pad. The 2010 with track package's handeling apparently completely changed character for the worse without those tires.

Apparently, the 2011 Mustang GT, with the Brembo package (19's and brakes), and the gears, is $700 more than the Camaro.

With the gears only, it would be less expensive than the Camaro. (gears are only $395, Brembo package is $1695, I believe).

I think that is fair. Especially considering the performance in the handling department you get.

I don't care about skidpad numbers, and I wouldn't open track or autocross the car (nor a Vette, so wouldn't get the more expensive GS).

I don't like HIDs.

I would absolutely change the wheels and tires to something from the aftermarket anyway, so no need to upgrade them with factory options.

Gearing....depends. Need to do some research and see how useful 5th gear is (read: can it be powershifted?).

To each there own. That would be my own.

Seriously, you could give me any one of those cars and it'd be a keeper for me!

If I had to part with my cash, I eat, breathe and sleep Camaro. Nothing else would do! I still think its the best car of the trio, for personal reasons. Of course I don't plan to drag race it. I would want it as a nice, comfortable weekend cruiser.

LOL thats ok you can get a better deal for even larger rubber. 255's are tiny tires and the mustang was still able to pull those impressive numbers with those. Imagine what it can do with a proper set!!!

I agree. Im sure the stock brakes stop the car just as quickly. The only difference would be brake fade after repeated "panic stops". With todays modern discs and ABS brake fade is hardly ever a problem and is only an issue when youre driving recklessly like a madman or on a race course. Theres a nice freeway by here that is cool to take for the twisties but it would be retarded for someone to take their car through a dangerous freeway like that and push it to its absolute limit. There are lots of people on those freeways and potential victims. Now for the high HP thing, well its fun to take a car through a quick romp when theres a nice straightaway (and nothing blocking your vision) when theres nobody that can potentially be in the way.

Until we see a better number with an aftermarket set of rims/tires I will go with the tires the engineers tuned the car for
