Yeah, already know your argument, but it was a production 3rd gen.

It may not be a typically comparison since these cars are about 13 years apart. But on paper, they aren't that far from each other..

The 3rd Gen was a fine car in its day, but its day has passed.

Though I do not hold that belief - some do, and they are just as correct as you are. Many things are subjective. Certainly the average LS1 F-body is going to be quicker than the average 05 Mustang GT. If that is your sole metric, then ok.
And please...try and put things in their proper perspective.

"that's what our business is all about - inspiring passion among the faithful."
This is what i got from this. "Now that I've clearly stated(the notion of Camaro's return is proposterous), we are in the buisness of living off our past achievment(singular) and will profit from our sheep buy giving them something that is less than expected(which is what we do best).
I am still not convinced, this is the second time he has stated there won't be another Camaro.

Just another reason why GM must NOT listen to enthusiasts when it comes to cars. None of us agree, but that is the nature of enthusiasts. QUOTE]
This is common knowledge and can be applied to anyting. Get 50 people and discuss any topic. Not all of them will agree. People in GM wouldn't all agree on a new Camaro either. There would be proponents and detractors.
So enthusiasts should not be totally discarded just because we do not agree.
I tihink GM would listen to enthusiasts to an extent.
Saying that I thnk most of us want Camaro to stay true to its original formula that made it succesful.
I don't care either way about IRS, DVD nav and other price sensitive crap.
V8 (2--plus a base V6) manual/automatic RWD coupe that looks good and is close in price to the Mustang.

Oh, and Third gens only require 87 octane, do come with airbags.

Just as a reminder... Zeta is an architecture. The Zeta SWB Chevy Coupe could still be called an "F-body", even if other SWB Zetas are called something else. (Like if they don't share the same sheet metal.) Don't forget the original F-bodies shared many compontents with the Chevy II/Nova... but they weren't called F-bodies like the Camaro/Firebird.
And for the zillionth time.... KEEP THE FAITH!

Re: Bob Lutz talks about Camaro on his "blog".
comparing the '05 stang to a 3rd gen is a joke.I've had a '85 Z28TPI and a '86 IROC TPI 5.0.I also have a 94 Z28 in my driveway, and it is no comparison to my '05.I will say that a LS1 is faster than a '05 GT on top end and will win a quarter mile drag stock for stock.Ride quality and comfort goes to the stang all the way.Handling is about even, but the stang is more compliant, although I think a WS-6 car or SS will pull better G's.

Personally, I think that they should listen to me....and only me.
