check fuel pressure with compression tester

Once again I am hoping to tap into the valuable knowledge of guys on this site. Again, coming from the carburetor era this '93 LT1 is my first kick at the throttle body set up. I am having what I think is fuel pressure problems based on the posts I read in the forums here. I saw an $80 fuel pressure tester which looks exactly like my compression tester except for the end that clips on the fuel line so I was hoping to save some much needed cash. My question is can I use my compression tester by buying the fittings that fit on the fuel lines and if so what size and type are those fittings. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Re: check fuel pressure with compression tester

You should be able to find the correct fuel pressure test gauge for about $30. Probably cost almost as much for a quality -AN fitting.

Then there's the issue or resolution. A compression gauge is typically 250-300psi, which would make 40-50psi fuel pressures hard to read accurately. Generally, an instrument is more accurate when it's used in the middle of it's range than it is at the extreme low or high end of the range.
