2014 Chevy Trax

Chevrolet Will Add New Small SUV to Global Lineup

Will be sold in just about every country except the USA. Canadians and Mexicans will get the CUV.

Strange that we're not getting it because they are worried about it cannibalizing Equinox sales, but Canada, which already has the equinox and the Orlando is.

Speaking of small Chevy CUVs...I have a Chevy Captiva as a rental this week. What a POS.

That's the rebadged Saturn Vue. I don't think it is a POS at all.

It just feels like a cheap econo-box to me. The V6 is gutless, and the MPG is less than stellar for a small CUV.

It's not the worst thing I've driven, but not impressed in the least. Is this a fleet-only vehicle?

In the U.S., yes. Fleet only. It's sold to retail in Mexico and South America. Since it was already in production, and already U.S. certified from its time here as the Vue, Chevrolet decided to sell it to fleet in the U.S. to try and keep Equinox residual values higher.

It's the same V6 and transmission as the V6 Equinox and the 2011 Cadillac SRX (2012 got the 3.6) and gets about the same mileage as its platform-mates.

I've seen a couple lately. The Vue actually got fairly good reviews, but then again, it was new, what, 5 years ago?

As far as the Trax, sweet name. It even looks kinda cool too.

I thought it sounded kind nice too, then it sounded familiar(the Orange one):

I've read somewhere(forgot) that the Trax is Chevy's version of the Buick Encore.

The orange one looks like the Honda Element when they first came out (not that it actually looks like one, but the plastic looking different colored front/rear fenders):

It looks nice. Is this the size of a Pontiac Vibe? Maybe slightly larger? I could see this selling well in the US if they brought it here.

I believe it is smaller than a Vibe. It is Sonic-based, while the Vibe is Corolla-based.

If it's that small, I don't see how it can be thought of as stepping on the toes of Equinox. They would be nowhere near eachother in size.

Re: 2014 Chevy Trax

The Encore, which is pretty much the same, is 3" shorter than a Vibe. The Encore is 10" taller. The Trax is like an evolution of the Tracker.
