SS is a given.

You're free to raise the BS flag. But nope.... His cousin didn't say anything pubicly. His job is safe as long as the fellow doesn't mention the guy's name. There's quite a few of us that have people talk to us about future products.

Besides, just a guess, but I'd expect the GM Performance Division to develop a Z/28 version.
Exactly. GM is a huge company & it's impossible to know everything that's happening.

I too expect GMPD to develop the Z28 or it's replacement.

THE SECOND YEAR!
Careful...... someone may have violated that confidentiality clause.

I think most of us know that although Fbodfather is pretty cagey about confirming things, he's very, very direct in saying things WON'T happen. Also, he's one of the most optimistic people I've ever met.

Knowing this, I'm surprised that Charlie is the only one to have picked this up!

Fbodfather just confirmed that although it's too early for final decisions, the Z28 name returning isn't a definate or automatically a given.

How do you have a Camaro without a Z28 model or designation. I mean seriously....

exactly... You dont think Ford would give up the "GT" on a Mustang so how could GM give up the "Z28". They can do anything they want but I think that would be a poor move on GM's part.

Z/28 probably has greater brand equity and name recognition than most anything from GM. And judging by the conversations that we all had with the "Camaro Team" in Detroit last Jan., I have the impression that GM is planning on doing the Z/28 up right. Let's hope so, because if I even get a whiff otherwise, I'll go completely postal. I'm not kidding.

Honestly, to not have a Z/28, in my humble view, would be stupid. To have the name Z/28 on a car not worthy of that hallowed emblem, would not only be stupid, it would be blasphemous.

I hate threads like this....once they're somewhat "resolved" and we draw some sort of conclusion (which we have) they should be locked because people will come in, read the last few posts, and reply based on those instead of missing the "conclusion" drawn in these last 2 pages or so. There's a point where they stop progressing...

I could see a scenario where Z/28 is just a special performance package and not a separate model. Something along the lines of 1LE: maybe badged, maybe not.

Me too.

I don't believe GM will abandon the Z28 name, but I can possibly see Z28 no longer being a model in itself. I can see it being a 1LE-like track performance package, or I can see it as the "Super Camaro".

We'll have a much better idea in a year or so.

Alah 1st Z06 (original) or 1st Z28 (original). These were almost secret options at the onset.

Here's to the Z28 being an "out of the box" race car option. Make mine vintage sky Blue Metalic , and I'll part it next to the Red 09 SS in my garage.

Yup, if anything changes, fasten your seatbelts for a withering onslaught of emails, phone calls and letters. WITHERING.

BTW, do they still have AC-130's at Hurlburt? We'll need those too.

Doesn't it make more sense to bring back Z/28 as a track package? That was the very foundation of what the package was in the first place. It should be as serious as the Firehawk was in the 3rd gen Firebirds.

Stuff like racing seats, big brembo brakes, optional rear seat delete, swinging fuel pump..

Well, if you guys haven't heard it already, I gave my point of view on this subject in CamaroZ28.Com Podcast #69 that was released this morning in the Podcast forum. I doubt everyone is going to agree with it, but I sorta had to get it off my chest. Check it out if you haven't already.

I just heard it Jason, and frankly I'm abit disappointed. Names matter. Heritage matters. Especially on things that evoke passion. If we don't care about heritage and names, then what are we doing here really? Why should we even care if it's a Camaro or a Chevy or even a GM?

If the RWD Tiburon replacement comes with a V8, why wouldn't I simply save afew bucks and buy that, instead of a generic V8 coupe from GM?
