I am not crapping out on you. I respect you a lot more than a few "others" in this thread. I am just searching for the truth. I think it's possible for a Civic with $4000 total to run 13.3s with nitrous and slicks. It would not be reiable, it would be a sh*t box. The $26 LS1 would do almost everything better.

 

I will be making every effort to come down and watch this race. Keep me updated.

A WHOLE 1/10th,holy ****!!!!! That is nothing. That could be any were from a better track preperation to the difference in head or tale wind. A real test would be to take it off, run it, allow a cool off period then putting it back on and comparing the times. Then doing it all over again.

A lid is NOT a CAI. I would think you know that the stock air filter cover on an ls1 has baffles in it that restrict air flow. Plus it isnt always 10rwhp. My friend put on his car and didnt see more than 2. so there you go

A '92 Civic Si with 130K miles in fair condition goes for about $2300, www.kbb.com According to Motor Trend this car does 16.4@86 in the 1/4 stock. If you add an 80 shot of nitrous and slicks, this car should run about 13.3 at 101. Easily within the $4000 budget. It would still not corner as well or brake as well as the LS1. It would lose every rolling start race to the LS1. It would be less reliable, uglier, smaller, less safe in a wreck, have less cargo area, etc. than the LS1. You could aways get a '90 5.0 instead and put the same tires and a bigger shot of nitrous (bigger motors can handle more nitrous before blowing up) on it and blow away the dumb little Honda for nearly the same cost.

 

wow i thought you were a moron before. so now cubic inches detirmines the strength of an engine? if anything the 302 would be WEAKER because of its vee style design and thats before we even get back into the block limitations.

Steve, you're telling me that an 80 shot of nitrous and slicks picks up 3.1 seconds and 15 mph. Just say that over in your head a few times and let it sink in. I'll just go ahead and tell you, it's not possible.

I'm not saying that it's not possible to load up a Civic with enough nitrous to run a 13.3 for a pass or two on a stock motor, but it will take a fairly massive shot to do so. So big of a shot that the fuel pump will need to be upgraded, and the clutch in it will slip so bad those slicks won't be doing you any good unless you upgrade.

So to do it your way(with a suitable size shot) you'll need
1) Civic
1) pair of slicks
1) clutch kit
1) flywheel resurfacing
1) universal or pieced together nitrous kit(wet kit)
1) high flow fuel pump
4) lower heat range plugs so you don't detonate (as bad, lol)
**assorted fittings, lines, etc.
**RPM window switch

Other things you may need, I'm just not sure-
Fuel pressure regulator
larger injectors

Anyway, bottom line is an 80 shot won't cut it. You'll need a bigger shot with the parts listed above, and some luck.

 

Yes, I'm quite serious, but apparently you're so far from being able to back up your claim that full synthetics and most CAI's are only worth 1 to 2 horses that you won't even bother to try.
