I love how Supra guys like to call bulls*** on things. Hp/tq below the curve is a wonderful thing. So is having a car that actually hooks so you don't have to modulate the throttle coming off the line to keep from blowing the tires off. Oh well, keep calling BS on stuff with your state of the art E-racing simulators.

Re: Killed a Rice car (Supra) I think.

Worked pretty good for my buddy who has a 985 rwhp Nova. The horse power calculator came within 35 rwhp of what the dyno said...

Don't get all bent out of shape, math doesn't lie; besides I never called bull ****.

I just gave an educated opinion and provided a few examples to back up what I said.

There are lots of Supra's that hook very well both on the track and the street so I am not at all sure why you are talking about modulating throttle and blowing tires off.

If a 3130 lbs. vette needs 445 rwhp to get to 127, then it seems right on the money that a mustang carrying 300 lbs more weight would need another 35 rwhp to get there. This ain't Nascar, drag co-efficient and frontal area aren't the major obstacle for most drag racers.

P.S-most manuals lose about 12-15% through the drivetrain....not to mention the fact that the Mustang has the advantage of a live rear axle whereas the vette is IRS...so the vette may actually lose more through the drivetrain than the stang.

The 2006 ZO6 Corvette, weighing in at 3130 pounds, runs 125-127 traps with around 445 rwhp; and that is with less drive train loss and a much better C/D.

It will take around 545 rwhp for a 3400 pound car to pull a 127 mph trap speed figuring in 18% drive train loss; more power will be needed with a driver and some gas in the car...

Figure it out for yourself.

12.4@113? That's a 1.7 60' time easy.....you didn't do that on stock suspension and street tires though. Sure I could've gone faster in the Supra with suspension mods and/or dr's, but I didn't try. With the great lowend torque and powerband of the vette, I didn't have to....it did it on stock suspension and half worn RE730's. It was simply a much easier car to get down the track. It's the same reason my 300zx with 22 more PEAK hp and 300 less lbs. was still, at best, .3 slower than my GTO....narrow powerband.

Actually that was on 100% bone stock suspension and on some old bald *** 275 width Nitto NT555R's with a 1.9 second 60 foot time.

That shows how much you know. Because I DID run 127 with 480rwhp. You dont need calculations because I personaly ran that and 2 days later dyno's it. HA HA. And with another 200rwhp I went 147mph at 3400lbs. Your just jealous because I'm a very good driver and you and you Supra buddies can't drive.

Re: Killed a Rice car (Supra) I think.

Lets get real here...

I have a buddy with a 3500 pound 900+ hp tubbed out Nova that went 148 mph in the 1/4 mile. He ran a 9.12 @ 148 with a 1.29 60' time in a car that has a 540 cu in Merlin II big block on a 300 shot, turbo 400, trans brake, 5000 stall...

The #'s just don't add up. Are you sure your car really weighs in at 3400 pounds? Is that with the driver?

You are totally FULL OF if you think a 3400 pound Mustang can do a 147 trap speed with only 680 rwhp.
First of all when the car was set up for Fun Ford weekend Street Renegade class the class minimum weight was 3400lbs to run. I went to 2 events. Qualified #1 both times and won one and the other was rained out. So the car is purpose built and gets the most out of it hp. The car even made 5.0 magizine's "Worlds Fastest Mustangs list" and was rated among the 10 fastest renegade cars in the country. This was a few years ago I no longer run in that class but have the same combo and weight as back then.
Last summer It was dyno's at 689rwhp and 650 ft. lbs. and at just over 3400(around 3420 or so) it ran those numbers. The 147 run spun bad and only went 9.9 but it ran consistant 145-146 when the tires got traction.
Heres a link to a couple of timeslips. They are on the bottom of the page.
Read'em and weep.

BTW do you mean flywheel hp or rwhp.I'm sorry but a tubbed out car with 980rwhp should run alot quicker and faster than 9.1@148.

I asked him... 985 crank and a little over 800 rwhp.

Nice times.

thanks man.
Accually I don't know how accurate those hp calculators are.I found one at a website which I can't remember but when I plugged in 3400lbs and 146mph it said it needed 953 flywheel hp to run that which I thought was a little optimistic since it was just dynoed at 689 rwhp which should be in the 800-850 flywheel range.
The guy who tunes my car told me the tune had a lot more in it and could go easy 150mph.Then I plugged in 150mph and 3400 and it said it need 1013 flywheel hp.There's no friggan way my car will make over 1000 flywheel hp but I definatly feel it can go 150mph with some tuning.

Btw, the Mkiv list didn't start until Dec. 97. I signed up in early 98.

Not sure when the list started. I was referring to Supraforums. The Silver supra was the banner car on there for over a year. It was silver awhile ago though. Its gone from purple to chrome now. Thanks for the compliment.
