Question rear factory subs in my 97 Firebird. What can I get to replace?

I have a 97 Formula Firebird. Unsure of Bose, Monsoon, or El Cheapo POS (I'm going with that because all are blowing up...Have replaced door and rear hatch speakers already, now a sub is blown!)
Anyway it has components front and rear, and subs on both sides of rear seat area on large pillars. Look like 6 and 3/4 to me. Dual voice coil. One on passenger side blown.
I was wondering what I could replace them with and keep a sub there.

It sounds as if you might have the POS Monsoon system in your car. You can check by looking to see if the POS amplifier is located in front of your spare tire. It's mounted on a plastic panel and is on the fender side of the panel above the wheel well.

If you want to upgrade, the best thing you can do is scrap the entire factory setup and replace it. Your factory woofers are 2ohms. Except for the so called subs which are 4ohm DVC's running at 2ohms. There aren't very many aftermarket 6.5" DVCs on the market. And even if you went with these you wouldn't want to be running them off of the POS Monsoon amp.

Your other option is to replace them with more POS factory woofers and then back off the volume and/or bass controls on your POS HU.

Thumbs down

I thought it was the POS system. I have been slowly repacing everything. I now Have Rockford Fosgate 6.5 components in front doors. Sony Xplod Mobile ES 6.5 in rear wheehelwells.
Yep have amp behind spare with Monsoon on it. With factory subs unhooked sounds really good. Bass is not Subwoofer good but is good.
Think I will use A Rockford Fosgate Punch Dvc 10" and Mtx amp I have left over from the 01 Frontier crewcab I had prior to trading it on the bird. Was going to sell them but no good offers, so may as well put them to use.

Thanx,
Joe
