02 Trans AM vs. 350Z
There were a lot of M6's at our meets as well. Typically they trap about 101-102. I think rule of thumb is an extra 5% loss for A4's. However, according to autoweek, there's more drivetrain loss with LRA than IRS. I've always heard it like you, IRS used up a little more hp, but Autoweek had a 2 page tech story saying just the opposite, so I'm not sure on that one. But the Corvette's weight advantage should overcome any losses with tranny. And I cut consistent 1.8's-1.9's and have 150 + passes under my belt, so it's not driving. Whatever it is that's causing it, I'd like to bottle and sell it!
I am done talking about this, I know what I ran, I have the timeslips to prove it. If you don't want to believe me I could care less.
Yeah, like I said. Not typical but not impossible. That was my whole point
The what if's I listed are realistic though...not a nail in the tire. There are plenty of high mileage a4 verts running around that aren't running low 13's like most LS1's. There's no one here that spends a lot of time at the track that will honestly say they've never seen a high 13/low 14 second LS1. If that car runs into an atypically fast 350z (there are a few people turning 13.7's), it'd be a close race. Average vs. average the LS1 wins by a landslide....but that's not always the way things work.

Average vs. average the LS1 wins by a landslide....but that's not always the way things work. I understand what you're saying....but that is kinda playing the "what if" card a little much. I mean when I comment on what I think will happen between cars, I don't take into account the "what ifs". I like to base my opinions on the average of what I see over and over. I mean, I would get raped by a Viper, but "what if" the driver had hit a nail before he raced me, then blew a tire, leaving me with a 50 car win. I just really try to base hypotheticals on the average vs the average. I don't know the truth about what will or could happen due to my magic ball being out of order! All I am saying is that I really feel the best way to judge what will happen is to base what the average of what has happened! So this being said, I think that it is a ridiculous thing to say that the LS1 will "eek" out a 350Z, when all I have ever seen is the 350Z being embarrassed!

Yeah. Average vs. average the LS1 will tear the 350 a new assh*le. Been there, done that

Okay got ya, I was just stretching the whole "what if" card! I completely understand what you are saying and I agree 100%. All I was saying is, to make the comment that Canada did, without giving the variables, is plain ridiculous. Also to say that you "certainly won't destroy him", is plain ludicrous. If he was to put it how you did, than I would've agreed.
*edit* - fixed!

Like every other car, you've got fast ones and slow ones. Obviously a high mileage vert with a4 and 2.73's is going to be a good bit slower than a low mileage 6 spd hard top with better gears.
Ouch.
Helps make my point though, this is the guy who might have to worry about a 350.
Btw John, where is Milledgeville? How far are you from Columbus or Atl dragway?

wow sorry Im late to this thread.
Here's some videos of a 350z owned by a guy I work with. In the race from a dig please remember I didnt launch, I left the line easy. I pulled even at around 80 and then just pulled away from there.

sorry its so dark but you can see what happened. This race was from a 40 roll. I let him pick the speed. And sorry about the screechy voice at the begining

and before someone says something about the time in my sig keep in miond this is at 3000ft and around 90*.

I'd bet you at least HALF of the automatic Z28's/TA's out there have 2.73's in them. Mine did!
. I was pi$$ed because I thought I had a 13-second car, yet it only ran 14's!
BUT, the following summer, after putting a few more miles on the car (figure everything needs to be "broken in", including engine, tranny, bearings, etc.) I went down to the track and ran the 13.434 @ 105.80 posted in my sig
) so it wasn't what brought me down over ~1/2 a second
.Robvas also had an '02 Z28, A4/2.73's, and he ran a 13.008 @ 108, bone stock!

2.73's aren't "teh suk" like people think they are
.

I didn't even mention you.
