02 Trans AM vs. 350Z
Rob's numbers are freak IMO. I've never seen a 3.23 m6 run better than 13.2 unless Evan Smith drove it. I don't know how Rob got 13.08@108 outta a 2.73 a4 bone stock. Usually when I see numbers like that I instantly think "correction factor". If he's bone stock and at full weight, that's the fastest a4 in existence by a decent margin. Not that I don't believe Rob's numbers, but I always see these incredible figures online, but never at the track. Where are all these record setting LT1's and LS1's when I'm racing?

Have you been living with your head in the sand?!
I'd bet you at least HALF of the automatic Z28's/TA's out there have 2.73's in them. Mine did!
I'll admit, when my car was brand new (barely had ~1000 miles on it) I ran it and only got 14.0 - 14.1 @ 101 mph
. I was pi$$ed because I thought I had a 13-second car, yet it only ran 14's!
BUT, the following summer, after putting a few more miles on the car (figure everything needs to be "broken in", including engine, tranny, bearings, etc.) I went down to the track and ran the 13.434 @ 105.80 posted in my sig
. The ONLY thing on my car then was the lid (which I put on right when I bought my car, and still only ran 14.1
) so it wasn't what brought me down over ~1/2 a second
.
Robvas also had an '02 Z28, A4/2.73's, and he ran a 13.008 @ 108, bone stock!
2.73's aren't "teh suk" like people think they are

All I can think of is that maybe the 2.73s actually helped the launch by controlling wheel spin.

I'm in the direct center of the state. It's about a 3 hour drive to Columbus; I used to go there for work all the time (some at Ft. Benning). Atlanta Dragway is a 2 hour trip north. I usually go to Silver Dollar Raceway for 1/4 mile racing (maybe 40 miles before Columbus) and thankfully there's an 1/8 mile track less than 10 miles away from me. All my race videos are at Silver Dollar.

(only 93's, or ones like mine where someone has put 3.23's into their car, and/or put an M6 where an A4 used to sit
. Remember, from '94 - '02, 3.42's is what came with the 6-speed.WRT Rob's car, I don't doubt him. He's now got an '01 Firehawk posted in his sig with a time of ~13.2x @ 107.xx ... which is an honest number, so why would he have lied before?
And like I said about my car, I've run everything from 14.1's to 13.0's as my "best" times of the day (for those particular days) and this has lead me to see the HUGE impact that CONDITIONS play on things ..... so if you can be at the track on a "perfect" day, then you should get a "perfect" (hard to believe) run ... no different than the low 13-second LT1 being debated earlier
.
I used to run at Silver Dollar when I had a Supra. Had a few buddies from Columbus I used to meet up there. Small world.

Oh, I don't think he's lying. I thought I made that clear
It could be the timing equipment at the track, or correction factor, or a complete factory freak. But I don't think he's lying. However, that doesn't change the fact that it is the fastest a4 in existence by a good margin...and faster than 99.9% of m6's as well. In fact, I've never seen a stock A4 LS1 that fast even in the C5 with a 2-300 lbs. weight advantage. I'm just wondering why? Anyone know if the car is full weight? Has it been dyno'd?
And I don't know fbodies that well, I thought the standard gear for the m6 was 3.23, but a 3.42 helps make my point better
And it is different from the LT1 being discussed earlier because it's actually possible
I don't think 13.0's and 108 traps from a nearly stock LT1 is. Smart money says there's a cam in that LT1 the owner doesn't know about.

What fun would that be?
Can't you see it though? The guy buys the car used, maybe a trade in, previous owner has put in a real mild cam, you can't hear it, no lope, vacuum is strong, no clue it's in there. It makes sense.

dude i'm so glad you smashed his ***! We have so many hardasses here on base that drive those stupid pieces, and NONE of them will ever line up with me. It drives me crazy that everbody hails those stupid damn things.
Hey Steve J, I have raced 3 newer 350z's in an 01 z28 A4.
Smoked all of them. Trust me, do not worry, you will beat him.
0.5 or even 0.3 in the quarter mile is a really big difference. You will see when you race him.
Enjoy!
