I'm not going to bash on your numbers, but I too would expect another 4 or 5 mph AT LEAST with 450 rwhp. Look at it this way....you only trap 5 mph higher than me with 120 more rwhp. Again, not bashing..just using my car as a comparison.

Same to you Joe. Guess I should have kept out of it but I was very happy with the results I got from Joe's setup. Everyone compares my car to their's but I compared my results to what I had before and well I thought the increase was justified by what my car did before, others disagree. Oh well. All I can offer you at this point Schurters is to stick with your 847 because that cam is better than 90% of any head and cam package on the market today. 13mph from just a cam.
I guess I should have stuck with my stock heads like the others.

The 847 isnt the best cam out there for every situation, never was trying to say that. Its worked well for me so far, thats all i can say. Honestly i am thinking about re-camming when i do heads, or at least advance the timing of the 847. Little too high spinning for what i am wanting to do in the future.
Sorry to Schruters too, wasnt trying to hijack your post, but it happened.

I know Joe doesn't.I asked him for help because I didn't have alot of cash, but didn't want to get left behind by all of my friends.Well lets just say that there are stroker LT1s around here that don't want any of the "BRUTL TA"! But hey, with 434rwtq at 4000rpm UNTUNED, I don't blame them! Enough talk. You guys will have some ETs next month. This isn't a show car and I ain't scared to let the hammer down.
Stay tuned,

I spoke with Joe today and he is VERY helpful and he emailed me back the same day. I guess I'm one of the guys who doesn't blame him for charging and is willing to pay for his experience.
If my new combination works out, I like the fact that it's not the same cam that everyone else has.
Brandon, is your car running yet?

I do not know Joe personally. What I do know is that the people I know who have used his cams think they are worth every penny.
If for some reason you do not want to spend the extra few bucks, then don't.. I would buy one of his cams in a heartbeat if I had a setup calling for one.. Keep cam specs secret...I have no problems with that..I personally think it is one hell of a deal myself, considering the results are worth it.

atljar,
As you can see I don't post much, but since you had inquired earlier about how the Impala SS ran with Joe's cam and TinShed heads I thought I would respond with a...I don't know how it runs.
I ran into some issues during testing, but nothing too big that a little $$$ couldn't fix.
I installed the new heads and cam but ended up spinning a couple of bearings. Found out that this was due to previous problem when I dropped a valve a couple of years ago onto #5, but never tore the engine down. My fault entirely and the added HP just showed the weakness...that and the cheap dino oil that I switched to during flush/breakin.
Then after putting the heads and cam package on a newly built forged 383, I found the weak point of the 4L60E tranny, which was rebuilt about 7k miles ago. It turns out that I toasted 3-4 but also did a bit of damage to every other part as well.
Pro-Built Automatics is building something that will hopefully last a bit longer that a few seconds over 5000rpm.
So after a couple thousand $$$ spent to get a fast 350 cubed Impala, I then spent three more for a 383 short block and a couple more on a rebuild for the tranny. I figure that it is a good thing that the 4.10s out back with a new Eaton on the stock 8.5" rear was just "gone through"...the drivetrain ought to be stout!?!
So for a straight answer on how is the Impala running...The Impala engine is now running well, but the owner is running out of money, and the owner's wife is running out of patience.

WOW, if that doesnt sound completely familiar
Reason i had inquired about how the Imp was running b/c my first ever full LT1 build was on an Imp SS.
Started as full bolt on. Then went lt4 heads/hotcam. I didnt put that motor together, but the person who did didnt tighten down the oil pump driveshaft and it stripped the gear off. Pulled the engine, honed it, turned crank, new rings, bearings etc. That combo always had a knock to it, but never could get it straightened out. Of course the 4l60e also decides it doesnt want to shift, so that was rebuilt with a race unit and 3k stall.
Went 13 something at 100ish.
Also had upgraded to 3.42s at the time. The stock auburn unit wasnt working well either.
Went back in for some more power, bigger cam, p/p heads, 3.73s for bigger cam, with eaton posi. Took it out tuning it and ran it up really hard and it spun all the mains. Guess the knock we had been hearing was pretty serious.
Stage 3 was eagle bottom end swinging ross pistons. The thing has been GREAT since. Tryed to get it on the dyno when i had my car done, but it wouldnt fit! The car was too long and rear bumper hit the dyno before front wheels were on the dyno lift, lol.
Anyways, ended up going 12.80 at 110 on street tires (absolute full weight), 2.0 60' leaving really easy. I had it hooked up hard a few times (1.7 street tires
) but the stall was now outmatched and in came the famous obd1 no shift issue with the convertor. Owner didnt really feel like going obd2 or lessing the stall speed since the car isnt really raced (3 times ever?) and the no shift wont likely ever happen on the street. Would be a low 12 sec car for sure with OBDII, but oh well.
Like I said, just wondering how yours was doing since I dont get to see too many of the Heavy SS's run around here. Best of luck
