Well, come down I-75, jump on I-64 East bound to Mt. Parkway and show up at the Mountain Parkway Motorplex in Clay City sometime this Spring and I will let you see a few.

We, KY Impala SS'es, have a nicely converted T56 - 396 knockin' on 11's NA (11.99 with the 4L60E), a juiced 350 also pushin' a best of 12.2's, and then my 383 runnin' NA somewhere inbetween. We all weigh in at a tidy 4200lbs dry give or take a hunnert.

As for the OBDI high stall issue, we fixed that quite a while ago through creative tuning...We all run at least a 3500 Yank and the 396 used to run a 4000 Yank all on Bryan Herter OBDI programming.

What was it that was said earlier?!? If you wanna play, you GOTTA pay!!

Creative tuning I like the sounds of that.

I tried flagging the shifts on speed alone, but that didnt help. Im not the best with the auto tranny computer stuff since i havent had to play with it much, oh well. Like i said the car isnt really a track car and the guy isnt too concerned about getting it fixed.

What do the SS actually weigh comming out of the factory? Is 4200 pretty standard or is that stripped of the full size spare and some other goodies?

Good ol' clay city I was down there this year with a bunch of my f-body buddies for car wars. Fun time.

4200 is pretty much stock weight, thus the hunnert give or take...

I run a steel cowl so it makes for a bit more weight, but also run some lightweight fats-n-skinnies for the unsprung adv.

The 396 runs an SLP fiberglass hood but usually keeps a full size spare in the trunk and runs on the 17" stock wheels with Hoosier slicks. Gotta get some ballast to hook.

The juiced car is probably the lightest with empty trunk and a 145lb. weakling at the wheel.

None of us have actually put the cars on a scale to say who needs a diet.

We'll I just got Joe to custom grind my cam, We have spoken over the last few weeks or so. He is designing mine for the 383 stroker going in the car. I opted for a custom cam over using the cc306. By april you will have some numbers that i feel pretty positive will have people talking. I always say a workman should be worthy of his hire. Joe didnt come looking for me. I went looking for him and hired him to do this custom grind for me.

Thanks again Joe,

Mike

Joes cams will be alot harder on the valvetrain than that of normal off the shelf cams. His cams are even more aggressive than those XE grinds. When I ordered my cam from Joe, he said to make sure you have XXX spring pressure at XXX height. My springs were exactly what he said I needed, so I left it at that. Joe's cams will also be alot harder on the springs. I will let Joe divulge the more technical info as its not my place.

When I ordered the cam, it took about 1 month from order time, to when I recieved it a my door step.

BTW, my cam is still in the box awaiting install the first week of march. I do have specs on the cam, but I am not going to tell them. I am the one who payed the money for the cam, its designed to my car and what I wanted, and Joe is the one who took the time to design it. If you want the specs, quit bitching about getting stuff for free or expecting to get stuff for free and order one of his cams. Once you pay for it, he will tell you the specs on it. Thats just my opinion on it.

Yeah it takes him awhile to grind them with his lil' dremel and his shaky bench vise but he gets em out......sooner or later.

I didnt mean that you were bitching about cam specs, it was someone else that has an 847 cam. I think he knows who he is. Anyway, my top end consists of the following---

--Comp R lifters
--Chrome moly pushrods
--7/16 NSA Comp Pro Magnum rockers
--Comp 985 1.43 OD springs installed at 1.800 to give me aornd 148-150 lbs at the seat
--Comp titanium retainers and the locks and such

Yes, It is possible to be more aggressive than the XE grinds. Its all depends on how fast the valve opens and closes that counts . BTW, Joes cams arent Comp's cams either. I hope to have the cam installed the first weekend in March.

Brian,
i have the same springs as you (CC-985's) installed on my heads
and they are at an installed height of 1.810 I+E, and according to to my build sheet the seat pressures are 139@seat 338open, would the .01" really make a 10lb difference @ the seat?
and what kind of an affect can sprin pressure have on cam decision?

Steve
