I have reserved the dates on my calendar. I will leave for New Jersey Sunday night following my points race at New England Dragway. I will be driving to New Jersey from New Hampshire.
Please let us know whan you have narrowed the field or can confirm the final selection list as I am re-arranging a couple of my employees vacation schedules so I can make it.
Thank you.

I just wanted to let you all know Rick is receiving your e-mails, but probably won't contact anyone regarding their car until he starts making choices for the shootout. Depending on the cars he's received, that may start soon or he may wait until the 9th or shortly thereafter. Thanks!
Let me know if you plan on coming out to the best coast (West Coast). 'cause Cali is where we put the smack down.
Check out LJ's been there, done that, Cali smogged 9 second ride. Now he's working on a 1KHP buildup.

There seems to be a great deal of concern regarding Englishtown's decibel requirements. The testing procedure was posted earlier in this thread, but for the sake of clarity, here it is again:
RACEWAY PARK NOISE REGULATIONS
Raceway Park has implemented a new sound level policy for Friday Street Night and Saturday muffled racing. The maximum sound level for these days is 90 db from 100 feet away.
NO EXCEPTIONS!
Some suggestions to achieve these desired levels are:
1. The biggest chamber style muffler you can find.
2. Do not use "bullet" style mufflers, Glasspacks, or collector mufflers as they are too loud to meet the desirable level.
3. Use exhaust pipe before and after muffler, tailpipes if possible
We are trying to achieve a "street" sound level. Noise is a problem for many racetracks, it is imperative that all Friday and Saturday competitors adhere to the new rules. There WILL BE NO GRACE PERIOD, if you are too loud you will not race.
Raceway Park is not trying to drive anyone away. The street program is vital to our business and we appreciate you as our customer. These steps are being taken to ensure the future of the street program at Raceway Park.
Please, do not regard this letter as only a request, it is a requirement. Understand this is being done to comply with our current noise regulations. If you want to db test your vehicle, Radio Shack has a meter part number 33-2050 for around thirty dollars. If you do not want to buy the meter or you think your car is quiet enough we will gladly check the decibels at Tech Inspection at no charge, but remember if it is to loud you will not race. The proper settings for the meter are:
· Response slow
· Weighting A scale
· Take the readings from 100 feet from the back of the car under load or when you let the clutch out is should read 90 db or less.
We thank you for your cooperation with this new requirement. Your complete compliance will enable our track to continue operating the Friday Night and Saturday programs for your racing pleasure. Please feel free to call us at (732) 446-7800 should you need any assistance in meeting this requirement. Thank you for your cooperation.

While these rules specifically state a 90dB limit, that number may be specifically for night racing. The number we have been given is 94dB, but the testing procedure remains the same. The last shootout did have five cars that exceeded the noise limitations at some point, one of which was consistently over 100 dB and could not make any significant changes. We recognize that the acoustics of Englishtown's track layout can make a difference in dB readings when compared to someone's home track, which might be located out in the middle of an open field. Short of asking everyone to make a special trip to Englishtown just to make sure their car is quiet enough, there's not much that can be done to guarantee a reading at one track will be 100% accurate at another.
Having said that, if your car is over by a tick or two on the meter at E-town, it will help your case significantly if you happen to have your own dB meter as proof you even bothered to check before you came to New Jersey. If you think your car is borderline at your home track, assume it will be too far over at E-town. If you show up at the shootout with gutted cats and no muffler and go over on our meter, expect us to bid you farewell. We were fortunate at the last shootout that the police did not show up to take their own readings as they have been known to do in the past, just ask the Mustang guys.
All of the participants in the last shootout planned for a worst-case scenario and trailered their cars to the event. Following that logic, expect the police to show up at our next shootout to monitor the runs. If they do and we only have two cars that stay at or below 94 dB, we may end up with a two car shootout.

I'm curious if anyone with a Borla has measured their sound level and if so, what the readings were corresponding to a specific plate configuration. I normally run the middle plate and the car seem fairly quiet compared to many of the street cars at the track.
I'd guess I need to get one of those meters, but wonder what's the loudest part of the run. The burnout, the launch, or what?

It would be a good idea to play it safe and measure both the burnout and the launch. All the guys running Borlas in the last shootout tried running them open on their first pass, but I believe they all ended up capping them to get the noise level down.
I know Rick is extremely busy putting together the magazines right now and I don't think he has time to either respond personally or keep a running list of entries he's received. If you sent him an e-mail at rick.jensen@primedia.com he's got your application. Thanks!
You guy's should just have this little shoot out over at Atco raceway also in NJ..www.atcorace.com ...it's well known that it is a much better prepped track and consistantly .1-.2 tenths faster..not to mention they don't have all the noise regulations that Etown has....typical track rental is around $1200-$1400.
