Quick crank pulley question

Does it matter which way the crank pulley goes back on? Will it effect the balance of the motor or anything?

Re: Quick crank pulley question

I would think its neutral balanced so it would not matter. I have always marked mine when I remove it, from some old habits.

I would think it is neutral as well I just need to make sure. Was doing something else on the car and I figured my dad could handle putting it back on, even when I told him which way it should go. Turns out he turned it wrong.

Re: Quick crank pulley question

Are you bolting the damper/pulley back on the hub - 3 bolts? If so, the bolts are not equally spaced. It will only go on one way.

Or, are you mounting the hub back on the crankshaft?

While it is neutral balanced, at times some minor balance "trim" is done using the damper/pulley.... nothing major, but it would be a good practice to put it back pretty much where it was assembled by the factory if reinstalling the hub..

Re: Quick crank pulley question

In theory the damper/pulley comes off the hub simply by loosening the three bolts.... mine did when the car was only a few months old, but after several years of rust, they sometimes require a 3-jaw puller to get them off. Shoebox has the setup covered on his website.

Ah, good to know. Maybe my memory just failed me on which direction the arrow was pointing.
