Are you bolting the damper/pulley back on the hub - 3 bolts? If so, the bolts are not equally spaced. It will only go on one way.
Or, are you mounting the hub back on the crankshaft?
While it is neutral balanced, at times some minor balance "trim" is done using the damper/pulley.... nothing major, but it would be a good practice to put it back pretty much where it was assembled by the factory if reinstalling the hub..

slightly off topic. i was thinking of going with some tpis underdrive stuff. can i do this with the normal tools or do i have to get something special?? thanks.
Re: Quick crank pulley question
In theory the damper/pulley comes off the hub simply by loosening the three bolts.... mine did when the car was only a few months old, but after several years of rust, they sometimes require a 3-jaw puller to get them off. Shoebox has the setup covered on his website.
