That's incorrect. You just confused STD with "uncorrected".

As a rough estimate, SAE hp is 98% of STD, which agrees with the results in post 54.

That's highly unlikely. Just because he coincidentally came up with your uncorrected number doesn't mean he had the two confused.

I have two versions of Dynojet software (Runviewer and WinPep) and they come up with different answers on the same run corrected to STD (different by a full 7 HP) one giving numbers similar to Bret's, one giving numbers closer to yours. I haven't really cared enough to bother figuring out which is right since I like to just use SAE numbers (SAE and Uncorrected match between the two programs within 1/2 HP or so). That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the STD correction itself, but it does show there may be some bad correction factors out there associated with it--even in Dynojet's own software. They probably put a little more effort into getting the SAE 100% correct, that's all.

Weather (no pun intended ) justified or not, this thread should encourage people to ask for SAE numbers when they're at the dyno.

While you at it why not get the SAE numbers? My guess is they are weak and dont support your big head. Once again..as shown in the post above. STD number can vary due to conditions. They are not a good comparison between cars. Hell...compairing numbers from one dyno to another isn't a good compairison due to dyno variances. So as far as we know your dyno could be a happy dyno and then you also use STD numbers to help inflate your numbers even more. Hell..why not throw 60 lbs in the tires also..that always helps. The best compairson..which is pretty much industry standard is SAE..why not post em?

An even better compairison is lining em up on the drag strip. If you think you got the baddest cam only car then why not call out the TRUE bad *** fastest cam only car. Line up with frank and see what happens.

Sorry to make it look like I'm a big headed ahole to you. That is not what I'm trying to do. I was just surprised that my friend dyno'd abot 370rwhp. Figured it must be close to the cam only record. This site is awesome and has ALOT of members. If anyone knew the cam only record, it would be posted here. To me, luck is part of the equation when getting good results the first time out.

Now what is that SAE cam only record? I will do as you guys suggested and get SAE numbers on the re-dyno..

I'm a little disappointed by some of you guy's comments. Little do you guys know I have been tuning f-bodies for about 10 years. One thing I like is to share FREE information on tuning. I don't think there is any other company out there willing to help the DIY tuner like I am. Rude (un-moderated) comments make me fell very unwelcome. Why can't some people just post technical replies instead of emotionally filled ones? Guess I'll get flamed for that comment too....

technically, we need the SAE numbers to have a true comparison.

Why don't you try a different dyno next time too to make sure its not a high reading dyno.

That is a fair suggestion. I will tell you first hand that one is not a happy dyno.

Re: LT1 "cam only" dyno record

I will post on your behalf mad scientist. I have never had a car on a dyno. I would not even begin to know what diference between std, sae, blah blah is. I know this much an ET is what matters in the real world.

You must understand that this younger crowd is a product of Fast and Furious and ricer filled hot rodding methods. Dyno numbers and parts list is where they do most their racing from.

Don't beleive this, go to almost any hang out and see what people talk about. I have seen lap tops pulled out as proof of some HP numbers being thrown around. When these people get down bragging about how much power they make. Ask them if they want to put money where their mouths are and race showing us how fast all those big numbers are. Pussies will shrival and excuses will start flying.

Seems that most posted in this thread are from this group of what I call domestic ricers.

Flame me all you want. When your done I will be the one out racing, showing how fast my car is, not talking about it.

To those that don't fall into this group, you know who you are and will not take my post as a slander to you.

BTW CAMAROZ28 ROCKS!

Re: LT1 "cam only" dyno record

Thanks Owens Racing! It not easy to get high dyno numbers. Most people are majorly disappointed when getting dyno results. Back in the day, my 87 formula dyno'd 259rwhp. That was with a really, really mild 406 ci motor. Asked the dyno gods and it calculated about 13.5-13.7 ETs. Well I actually got it to run 13.0 @ 106mph with little traction. My friend has a 383 in his 92 Z and uses stock valved l98 heads. It dyno'd 369RWHP. After tuning it in the real world, it ran 122-125mph at the track. I'm not a big fan of dynometers and feel like they are best used for developmental reasons.

I just thought it was awesome to see an LT1 car dyno 370rwhp. That is LS1 territory.(fyi, my friend's 369rwhp car would lay it on the lt1 though....)

...and I don't prefer to dyno tune, period.

Re: LT1 "cam only" dyno record

Guys, either CORRECTION to STD conditions or to SAE will do. They all correct back to a common condition. Raw numbers are UNCORRECTED, that's the only time they are.

370 is a weak cam only LS1...bolt on LS1's are easily in the 360's

Thunder Racing has a TRex dyno graph posted on their website

If you compare SAE to SAE and STD to STD then its fine, but comparing 1 to the other is pointless. STD for me is often 10+hp higher.

I have NEVER had my car on a dyno, but I sure will put my money where my mouth is if you would like a peice of it. At 23 i don't know if i qualify as the younger "domestic ricer" group, but i'll leave that for you to decide.
