now I'm installing this. NO MORE crappy hyperutectic (sp?) pistons, more cubes, better heads, more cam, WOOOHOOO!
I also should have added that I limped it home around 20 miles after that. I figured the engine was toast anyway (it was smoking badly and had the "chug of death"), so if I could at least make it home without paying for a flatbed, then why not? Had a couple of friends follow me, but it made it just fine. These engines really can take a beating

114000 still stock, but got Opti problems. Just changed it 5000 miles ago, and now it won't start. Guess I gotta tear it out again. New water pump about 10k ago, and a fuel pump, but other than this hiccup, she runs great.

I'm starting to worry about a new clutch soon though... No slippage yet, but how long can a stock clutch go? I just started really beating on it for the last few years, but it's been well cared for. I've had it since it was nearly new.

Your situation sounds almost exactly like mine, except my opti problems didn't begin until about 150k miles, then I replaced like 4 in a little over a year.

My stock clutch (almost certain it was the original) didn't go until about 135k. But, when it went, it WENT. Damn disc split from the center about 3/4's of the way around.

I have 181k on my 94 T/A and it still runs great. I have rebuilt the trans and rear, rear was for going to 3.73, but as far as the engine goes, all stock internals. But when I am going 65 mph, I am only tacking around 1500 rpm's so its really like a fast idle. I expect to put on another 70 80k before rebuilding.

I traded my '97 Z in with 167,000 miles at a local dealer on 3/'07....they gave me $1700.00 for it. Car ran good, but had a high RPM hesitation I couldn't figure out. I found it a month or so later for sale in the Autotrader. I could tell it was mine by the pics of the mods I had installed and the V.I.N. listed in the ad. The guy was asking $6500.00 and they rolled back the odometer to 110K....LOL. I called and he said it was sold. I hope whoever has it now doesn't plan on spraying the snot out of it.
