How long did your lt1 last?
Re: How long did your lt1 last?
My 95 Z28 had a junk motor when I bought it, 127K miles. I don't think the guy ever changed the oil, there was ~1/4" of sludge built up in the heads and lifter valley.
#2 main bearing spun, #3 rod bearing shredded beyond recognition, and #6 rod bearing spun. Also the #1 top ring was broken in half, probably from low octane gas.

162k and it bounces off the limiter every shift when racing....I need a shift lite bad now with the TH400 and 4k stall.
Stock internals with LTs, K&N FIPK, Ed Wright tune, no HVAC, no power steering, Stock 10 bolt with 3.73s and a TA rear girdle.
Went through 1 opti, 1 water pump, and 2 trannies before I put the bulletproof one in.
I drive the living hell out of it but I also keep very good maintenance on it.
It will probably go over 200k pulling very low 13s.

Re: How long did your lt1 last?
81,000 on stock motor w/ heads, cam, nitrous - oil pump failure
10,000 on 355 w/ same parts - connecting rod broke (stock rod)
400 miles on 391 - sold to fund 396
I used the money from the sale of the 391 to put down on my Silverado 4 1/2 years ago so I had to save up for the 396. Finally got her running about a month ago after getting married, buying a house and putting my wife through school. Its been a long time coming.

The second time, the car stalled and was barely able to run. A lot of missing and backfire, weasing and bucking. DTC code was missing hi res signal. I nursed it home about 5 miles and put a new Opti in and problem solved. This was near 200,000 milies.
Third time I started getting a missing hi-res signal DTC light. This was around 275,000 miles.
At 310,000, I was getting a missing high res error again and just put in the MSD Opti. I am now having a hesitation problem so I am not ready to proclaim it a success yet. Still working on it.

Glad to hear things are runnin' good now. Did you have 1 shop doing all the installs before? or were they different shops and it was just a bad coincidence?

It was indeed the same shop. Golden Wrench Automotive for those wishing to stay away.
The only time I felt anything close to "cursed" was when my 3rd 4L60E blew on my 95Z. I went to 3 different shops for 4L60E's. All of which lasted maybe 5k each. Again cuttin corners is not the way to go, you get what you pay for. So I cut a whole in my car and installed a T56. Haven't looked back since. Best mod I ever done.
I think my lady was happier then I when I got them up and runnin' and out of the garage for some fresh air.
