ok this is starting to suck now. i bought a new relay and it worked for a little bit, not even enough for the car to run for 5 seconds. now all i can hear when i turn the key is a click. i have no clue now what it can be!

If you do have to replace the pump I second or third the trap door method. I just replaced mine recently, cutting the whole was very easy and the best part (or worst part) was when I was finished I had to go back in to the tank again because I f'd up the fuel level gauge! If I had dropped the rear to do it and then had to do that a second time I would have probably gone postal!

Even if you never did it before, the trap door will ALWAYS be easier then droping the tank. Plus you have access to your fuel system if you need to in a pinch

Might be a stupid question, but what do you do to cover the hole back up? Welding would be best, but I dont think that is the smartest place to be welding something!!!

I used a piece of 22 ga sheet metal, cut it down to about 1" larger than the hole and secured it with a bead of rtv and approx 15 short (like 1/2") self tapping sheet metal screws. When I went back in again it took me about 15 minutes to get the cover off, the lines disconnected and the fuel pump back out, literally.
