97 Camaro fuel pump relay chattering
My son has a 97 Camaro that won't start. When I turn on the key just short of cranking the engine, the fuel pump relay chatters like a machine gun. Up until now if we kept trying to start it, the issue would go away after several minutes and the car would eventually start. however, I have not been able get it started for the past 2 days.
I did take it to a shop a couple of months back and they replaced the fuel pump relay. The problem went away for a couple of weeks, but the issue has returned. I don't want to spend a ton of money on it since I'm going to sell the thing so I'd rather try to fix this myself.
I am getting 12V at the orange wire on the relay plug, ground is good. But I am only seeing 9.6V-10V on the green/white wire when I crank the engine.
Could this be a PCM problem since I am not seeing enough voltage at the relay?

Re: 97 Camaro fuel pump relay chattering
Yes it could. But I would check the power wires coming to the pcm next. The pcm will run fine on only 10 v and you might not notice any other issues. Put the meter on each power wire (pcm battery and pcm ignition, 2 each) to the pcm while attempting to start.
