The fuel gauge in my 2002 B4C stopped working over a year ago and I finally got tired of always stressing over it. I finally decided to replace the sender. I bought a new one and figured I might as well replace the pump while I am at it using the tank removal process. I bought a new AC Delco pump (pump/kit only) and noticed that the pump is not exactly a direct fit replacement. The generic instructions are rather vague to say the least. But the pump is dramatically smaller that the one I removed, and is a VERY loose fit in the black plastic "pump holder". I do not feel comfortable installing it that way. Is their a plan B for this. With the number of pumps that have been replaced on these cars by forum members, someone must have faced this situation before. The pump I used is; NEW ORIGINAL AC DELCO FUEL PUMP KIT MU110 MU203 MU230

After much "hand ringing" on this issue, I decided to put a good quality hose clamp around the black thing that holds the pump after I enlarged the bottom opening. The hose camp was tightened and seems to hold the pump quite well. We installed it, and now it works, while I was at it I also replaced the fuel sender which had failed, the little fingers of the electrical contacts had worn completely away. The inoperable fuel gauge was the reason we pulled the pump. We DID NOT use the trap door method and it wasn't too bad really.

As you may realize from the lack of help, we have very few LS1 4th Gen owners on the site - isn't like the old days. It would be good if you could drop in once in a while, and help out when you can.

Well I thought it would be helpful to someone.....anyone, facing this issue now, or in the future. I guess I will post my curios oil pressure issue elsewhere.
