best Cams out there for LT1s today

Cam motions seems to be getting some good feedback from LS1 users on their custom cams.
There is Com Cams Xtreme cams, Crane. others?
What are people finding to work best in there stroked Naturally aspirated LT1s these days?

the question would pertain to cam that have a good drivability and and also make great torque and horsepower.

All of the cam companies can make you just about any cam you can think up. The best cams aren't made by a particular company but are specc'd out by someone knowledgable for your particular needs and your combo.

If all you want is a driveable cam with great torque and hp then just buy an off the shelf cam. You have to be slightly more specific to get a custom cam. IE where you want your power, car weight, m6/auto, rear gear, tire size, all that good stuff, basically everything you know about the car and stuff you dont knwo about it a good cam grinder (spec'er) will ask you, if they dont then you arent buying a good custom cam.

I'm not asking for specific advise , just for the popular cams used these day and looking for what kind of HP numbers they are making.
I'm have been hearing very good things about cam motion these days and was also wondering what the Comp extreme series with the faster ramp rate is working like in LT1 stroker engines?

Well what you want IS specific advice. An off the shelf cam is just that, its made for every engine out there that wants it, not just YOUR engine, which is the reason you will 99% always make more power with a custom cam as long as it was Specd by someone who knows their crap. The comp XEs are likely making the best power of any off the shelf cam though, likely do to their ramp rates. Dont forget to match your valvetrain to the cam though, just as important as the cam decision itself.

3rd (and final) request.

PLEASE post engine-specific topics on the appropriate "tech" forum. Questions like "what's the best timing chain for an LT1", "whats the best cam company for an LT1", and "what does '327' mean on the LT1 block" is not "Advanced Tech". If it has "LT1" in the topic, chances are it belongs on "LT1 Tech".

Moving to LT1 Tech.

There are lots of variables when hp numbers are generated, which makes such a comparison next to useless. Some of the big variables include the atmospheric test conditions, type of dyno used, auto v. manual transmission, conveter used (if an automatic), heads (a biggie), valve springs, exhaust system, state of tune, fuel used, etc., etc. The same applies to track times with the huge added variables of track surface and driver skill.

The current trend toward steeper and steeper lobes is a good one. But as Jon suggested, steep lobes impose a big load on the valve train and the right parts need to be selected to use this type of cam sucessfully.
