Post Amp problems, any suggestions?

Today when I started my car up at lunch I heard a strange noise coming from my sub(JL12W3). It started with a siren type noise, then continued with a pulse every few seconds. It hadn't done this when I drove the car this morning so I had no idea what was going on. I pulled the sub out and hooked it up to another power source and it functioned properly. This lead me to believe the amp was the culprit. It's an MTX RT2200X that I have bridged. It seems to be getting power and all of the fuses are ok. The only other thing I can think of is that the pre-amps on my deck screwed up for some reason. Anyone have any ideas?

Try hooking your amp up in a buddy's car and see if it works properly. Or you can try playing a portable CD player directly into the amp. If the amp works then the problem is further upstream in the signal path.

Ok, I'm still working on getting another amp into the car to make sure that's the problem. But I did do some other "tests" and here's what I came up with. I hooked the sub up to only the left channel. It didn't make that crazy noise, but seemed way underpowered. Hooked it up solely to the right channel, same deal. No crazy noise, but was barely moving. Then I bridged it again, and it was back to making that noise. So as of right now I'm fairly positive my amp is fried. I'm still going to get a different one swapped in before I buy another one, but based on what I've posted would you guys agree that it's an amp problem? TIA.
