Ron, It's so pretty after it's glass beaded! I only do the powder in black and red because I have tried clears and silvers and none of them look good or hold up to anything. Pics aren't a issue. Just shoot me a e-mail on it.

He runs 8.80's with 29x10.5. Maybe quicker now.
I just got a call from Carl at Rossler..while bs'ing with him I asked about his 4l60E in the vette...the reason they run it is because of space and they do not want to hack the car up because they would rather run a 4l80e because the 4l60e does not hold up long at all.

Just thought I would share that with ya.

Isnt the 4L80E a 6 speed automatic. I really don't alot about those transmission but i've heard alot of good words about them. What's the differences between the 4L60E and 4L80E?

Re: 500+ Rwhp

With Hydramatic trannys the first number will tell ya how many gears it is.

4L80E is a 4 speed, I think the 6 speed is something like a 6L85E or something.

Re: 500+ Rwhp

Correct. Isn't that what's gonna be in the STS-V?

First digit = Number of forward speeds
Second Letter: L = longitudinal or "North-South" or front engine rear wheel drive or 4WD/AWD based on RWD
Second Letter: T = Transverse or "East-West" for FWD or AWD based on FWD
Third/fourth digits = relative strength of transmission. 80 stronger than 60 which is stronger than 40 or 30. Usually the "5" in "65" means an upgraded "60"
E = electronic controls.

So 6L80-E is a 6-speed longitudinal (front engine RWD) pretty strong electronically controlled automatic. STS-V and XLR-V and C6 now or soon.

4L60-E is the medium strength 3.06; 1.63; 1.00; .70 geared 4sp trans used almost everywhere in GM.

4L80-E is the beefier one based on the old THM 400 with gears of 2.48; 1.48; 1.00; .75

To confuse the issue more, GM labels them with a 3 letters/digits, just like most options: T56, MT1, Z28, Z06, LS7, M22, LS1, LS6, LM7 etc.

Homework question:

What is a GM VT25-E ??

Thanx for all the info about the Tranny's. When i get some money thinking about updating to either a 4L80E or update my 4L60E or another one to 4L65E internals!

Re: 500+ Rwhp

Still, it's pretty impressive considering it was built nearly 9 years ago.

Re: 500+ Rwhp

415rwhp corrected with LT4 heads and intake. Looks like a cam close to a CC306 too.

Not bad, consider that we are doing that with LT1 castings now.

The funny part about that is the pics of Craig. I've talked to him on the phone and he's a funny SOB!

NONE!, as in ZERO

Everyone knows how to build one though or is in the process of building it and have been for the last 5 years.
Didnt neal (pnykllr or something liek that) make 509?
