01 Cobra was running as fast as 13.3 at 106 stock, which will beat a lot of the 98-00 auto LS-1's and is very close to the 6spd's. The 01-02's are a bit faster.

There was a study done on '01 sales, it was discussed months ago in the lounge. Go dig it up as I have had 2-3 others in this thread say the exact same thing..

It was an old report first made at BON. Take a look at a mustang magazine sometime and look at the vendors and parts available. There are 2 seperate mustang drag racing organizations for a reason.

I've never seen the sales report from either company. I like Mustangs, but if I going to get a car for power reasons I'm going to get the Camaro. I've seen 2 women drive Camaro v6 for the whole 14 months I've had my z28 and 2 that go to the track drive ls1s. One has an SS the other ram air T/A. As far as mustangs...I've never seen a girl at the track in a v8, but I've seen plenty on the road with v6s. I've noticed that before I even had my car. So I don't know.....I've seen what I've seen, so reports could be flawed for whatever reason or I just haven't got around even though I put about 30k between my two cars a year.

ive seen autos with ttops sticker that low(20s).i also went to chevrolets site with my friend and he selected as stripped as he could get.hardtop,no power options with AC and a hurst.the price they gave him was 23 and change.this was an 02. he almost ordered the car right there.he couldnt believe it.these cars could be purchased for low 20s.many people have.youll never get a car this good again for that amount.

its pretty much a safe bet that racing is a male dominated hobby.very few women race and they sure arent racing modded v6 mustangs.

im all for famales racing.

o yea.a4 ls1s are easily of running capable 13.3s unmodded.of course we all know pre 03 cobras arent really close to m6s.even ask your buddies at MM@FF.

Definately see alot more woman driving mustangs weather they be a GT or v6 model...Outta the Gt and Z, the Z is just raw muscle, the GT is more of a "sports" car like a eclipse or celica or something of that nature which are the kinda cars that attract woman, and most could care less how they perform as long as they look "cute". I do agree that you really cant tell what stangs comming from a distance until you get right up ontop of if, it is a bland lookin platform...only differance from the cobra would be the hood (96-98 anyway) or the wheels..On the flipside you can especially see a newer TA comming w/ that badass ram air hood and the DRL that u can see a mile away, similiar w/ the SS, and they have that racing low stance. Ford made the mustang look a bit better w/ the 99 and up models...but again stil bland...and from the looks of these 05 spy shots its only gonna get worse...

Then you most definitely never looked that close, now did you? Let me refresh everyone's memory...

My dad's '02 Formula stickered for $27,595. Back out $595 for his chrome wheels, and $325 for his Hurst shifter (2 MANDATORY items put on all 10 Formulas I ordered in 2002 ). We're now down to $26,675. Now, thats with t-tops, power seat, Monsoon stereo, everything power, everything STANDARD.

Now take a Z28. Hardtop. Crank 'em yourself windows. These based at around $23,500. I didn't sell Chevys, so I don't know the EXACT number. But I know when you added PEG-2 with all the power goodies, and T's, you were a hair under 26.

Care to restate that? Now, add in the $3000 rebates they had all Summer, 2002, and that "real world" price you speak of above just got a whole lot cheaper...didn't it??

I had many 2001 and 2002 GT owners come through and check out the Formulas, and all walked away with a sense of what they DIDN'T get for, on average, $2,000 more sticker to sticker (many of these guys had a $25k sticker on their GTs). I'd say 50+hp and t-tops are worth that...

Wouldn't you?

bottom line is a majority of stangs sell to people(alot of females)that could care less about modding them where fbodies appeal to people who want all out *** kicking power and it just wasnt enough buyers to keep it around.

if you think the majority of stangs sold which are v6s that people are looking to mod them youre not facing reality.

Show me a sticker where the price was that cheap? Have a scan of one? I've looked at dealer lots in 4 different states and have never seen the $22,000 fatory sticker Z-28 on the dealer lot. They may exist, but I have never seen them. I have seen the v-6's going from 21,000-25,000 as well. The Mustang was several grand cheaper when all was said and done, and it appealed to a larger mass of people. The f-body simply priced itself out of it's intended consumer market. As I have said, I have never seen one less than $26,000 and have seen loaded T/A's going for $32,000-$36,000. And I sold them awhile in Northern Raleigh, N.C.

Oh, and one more thing, your $20,000 stripped down base model F-car was still $4,000 more than the dealer wanted for the GT's in 01

again,if you dont see things they must not be true right?fact is fbodies did sticker this low but most dealers i noticed choose to stock high end SSs and WS6s.

its true man, they were just as cheap as GTs.the car didnt sell due to it being perceived as a primitive musclecar which really wasnt true.these cars are just as tame as any other car if driven in a normal manner.but theres no reason to do that.

Why do you keep bringing up this v-6 thing? Quite a few of the owners are young males who can not afford a GT and do indeed mod them. I guess the lack of people willing to mod the v-6's is the reason for the explosion in v-6 parts recently As I said, take a look at some of the catalogs andd then get back to me and tell me how the aftermarket for mustangs is weak

I've witnessed 2 different 01's, one ran a 13.5 the other a 13.2. Of course I was going to the strip about 3 times a week and have only been going for about 10 years . Hell, I lived 3 miles away from an 1/8th mile strip.
