Wel,, if GM did have faith in the LS1, they wouldnt opt out of that engine for the LS2. Dont get me wrong the LS1 engine is a masterpeice. But the car it was sitting in needed help.

Youre talking about trims, if you want to go that route, you can say the same for the camaro, I cant tell a z28 from the v6, when i see a SS i know what it is. Nonethe less i know its a camaro, Same as you know its a mustang.

I myself wouldn't waste a breath on an ignorant fool at a movie theater. There's no way to cure that much ignorance in just a few moments of talking.
He likely went off and continued to talk crap about your car as soon as you left.

What does this have to do with 5th Gen and Future Vehicle Discussion anyhow?

...and ironically, while Mustang buyers don't care about performance, they sold more Mustang GT's than Camaros during the last few years they were still being made...

from yellow mustang registry.2000 model year only %30 of a total of 218,525 units sold were GTs.they have other breakdown model years why they were only specific this year i dont know. you can bet the other years most sales were of the v6 majority.ill be glad to research more if you like.

now i need to find where it said mostly female buyers purchased mustangs.

30% GT and 70% V6 is reasonable. I'd heard/read 35/65 in the past, but can't remember for sure.

I would like to see the same for the LS1 F-body cars, and those stats on gender.

wait, so you're saying when Ford outright ditched its 5.0 in favor of the dog that is mostly the 4.6 mod motor this is "progress" right? but when GM improves the most highly praised and celebrated engine (deservedly) in all of domestic cardome to such an extent as to justify it the "4th generation" designation, its called "not having faith".

i see. that makes perfect sense...

are you even awear of how many applications the LS1 engine and all its offspring have? or are you just another Mustang fanboy who decided to register so you can pester us with your ignorance?

I don't have the numbers, but it was a lot closer to 50-50 for the Fbodies. In fact, in 2002 there were more V8's sold then V6's.

I also don't have the Mustang numbers, but the female thing is not true. Even for the V6, the numbers are something like 60% male. And there are more sales of Mustangs to just men then there are total Fbody sales, during each year of the fourth generation.

The average kid doesn't know that camaros are superior. I gave a presentation on drag racing a few weeks ago and at the end i got the question, " when are you going to see the light and buy a mustang?". I laughed and said it'd be the day after I lost my d***. The average people just don't know that much about camaros or firebirds in my experiance.

Ya, I remember the 02 F-body numbers being that way. Go back a few years and I think you'll find they were closer to the Mustang numbers.

youre kicking my *** bob.
Good! And when we get done with this one, I'm going to explain to you why your SS looks like every other Camaro on the road....much like Cobra's look like every other Mustang.

(PS...so that noone gets the wrong idea...that was said in a friendly "ribbing" sort of way)

The SS had a different hood, wheels and spoiler. The Cobra has a different hood, front clip, spoiler, rear bumper, wheels and in some years ground effects and side scoops.

I learned that people jump the gun before realizing what I was really trying to say. Guess the ebonics was too much for them.

Thanks.
I love the assumptions thrown around on why the mustang was a sales success and the f-bod a sales failure. They always turn out to be entertaining and some of the posts comical, lol. The most common answer (excuses actually) usually are 1)their buyers are ignorant and buy the mustang thinking it is faster. 2) all the little girls want it. 3) they only sell v6's.

Don't remember the exact figures, but i believe 63-68% of Mustang buyers were males compared to 73% or so for the camaro. But then you factor in the sheer volume and you notice that more than twice as many men bought Mustangs than Chevy sold camaros (men and women combined).

The other popular excuse is that Mustang only sells v6 models. Then you look at the numbers and you'll notice that Ford sold almost as many v8 mustangs as chevy did v6 and v8 camaro's combined.
