Why I think mustangs did better then camaros

Wow $15,995 for a new GT that means that you can get one thats been on a 2 year lease or trade in now for under $10,000
Not
Back in the early 90s fox body GTs were for around $14,000. I remember test driving a new LX notchback 5.0 that had a window sticker of $12,900
Things change over time and one thing that always changes is car prices are aways going up. Its pretty silly to think that in 10+years that a Mustang has only went up in price $1,500-$2,000

It would have been pretty easy just to show a z28 overtaking a Mustang. That commercial would have probably started a war of commercials between Ford and Chevy, but it would educate the masses. I've already seen the F150 & Silverdo commercial battle...why not the z28 and Mustang. I hope GM wakes up!

Marketing only takes you so far. There were a few other areas that GM hasn't really adressed. Its been covered a couple of hundred times in these forum so i won't bother with the specifics. Here are a few generals though.
I think it comes down to these 4 factors
1) mustang is more suited for the masses. No annoying hump or huge dash, seats are a little more upright, and the blind spots aren't as mant. You'll also see a much better list of standard equipment on base stang and GT in comparison to base camaro and z28 (did you know power windows and such are an option on the base and z28??)
2) Marketing. Up till recently i really haven't seen too many mustangs ads either (atleast direct ads), but Ford still pushed the cars well. Only recently have i seen Mach 1 ads in car mags.
3) Freshnings. Ford did special editions like Cobra, Cobra R, Bullitt, mach 1, in addition to a few dealers selling Roush, Saleen, and Steeda versions. That's a really wide variety and a lot of high performance stangs that overall did wonders for the image of the breed. Cars like those breath new life and excitment into the lineup. I realize there were a few special camaros (like the GMMG cars), but they weren't as high profile. On top of that, you have two different body style stangs (not just front clip) for the 94-98 cars and the 99+ cars. Lots of wheel options, and Ford did a better job of making the cars look different from one another.
4) In general, the mustang seems to be more popular with the public today. A lot of that may have to do with it being the first pony car. A lot of it may also have to do with the 1st factor i've posted and it being more suited for the masses. Don't really know. Some where down the line, the camaro stopped being popular. This may have stemmed from the aftermentioned lack of advertisement on GM's part.
Just the 4 main ones that come to mind.

Please point to me one single instance in this thread where I said this was the base price?

Loaded low mile '01 GT $9995
ROUSH stage 1, '01 for $11,000
01 GT for $7495
and for good measure to compare, a v-6 for $5900
Now since I have proved you wrong with concrete evidence, do you wish to add anything else, or are you going to call me a liar again

thank you.as i said DISCOUNTED.certain dealers discounting cars doesnt mean thats what cars actually cost or go for.giving examples of dicounted cars is not an accurate example of actual base and sticker prices which was my point.

once again youre wrong.MSRP on one of those was over 25.once again not discounted.you cant go by those BS sites.im talking base price.youll do and say anything wont you?deal with it,im right.i guess this will go on awhile.
since youre at it.provide an old link on one of those sites for an fbody.ill bet somehow you wont be able to find one just like youve never seen an a4 ls1 fbody run faster than an 01 cobra.

So it is alright for you guys to talk about how discounted F-bodies in the "real world", but when I state the same for a Mustang it's suddenly bogus?
I'll say one thing for you, your selective reasoning skills and ability to make up your own BS to make you think you have won an argument in which you are clearly wrong amazes me. And you are supposed to be an adult?
Again, point out to me once where I made any claim that this was sticker? You can't because that was your own little tangent, and apparently your mind can't comprehend things such as sticker and real world prices. I also did not know that Traderonline was BS for used prices or that carsdirect.com was bogus for real world new car prices. Any data to back that off, or are you just running off at the mouth again?
I say we look back for our fans who don't want to read this entire steaming turd.
Oh, and one more thing, your $20,000 stripped down base model F-car was still $4,000 more than the dealer wanted for the GT's in 01
and this is what you said:
base price on an 04 GT is 24k so youre telling me in 01 a base price was 8k less not discounted two years ago?give me a break.
It is obvious to me that you do not live in reality. I again challenge you to find where I said anything about the Mustang being for base price. I'll paypal you $100 if you can do that, where I said that the $15,995 price was sticker.

1. You could get a new GT cheaper than you could a new F-body back in the day and
2. You can pick up a used 2 year old GT for as little as $7495.
If you have a valid remark or question feel free to post it, but if you come up with the same pointless drivel that you keep spewing, don't even bother.

I would say that the same percentage of people who mod their v-6 camaro or firebird mod their v-6 mustang.

This is all my own opinion so b4 you guys go and argue with me or anything keep in mind I probably won't read this post again. When I was 16 and looking for a car I wanted a mustang. Keep in mind I was looking for a use car and this was in 2000. I loved the look of the mustang over the look of the camaro. I actually still think the mustang looks better. Unless in 2007 Kris' model camaro comes out on the market. Then I'll have to change my mind. Anyways as I was looking I got to drive both cars. I found the handling on the camaro way better than that of a mustang. Plus you can obviously feel the more power the camaro has when you drive both of them. Plus I liked the whole interior of the camaro over the interior of the mustang. The sound system was way better too. Can't beat a bose sound system. Anyways the mustang does sound better stock than a camaro and does look better in my opinion but if ya drive a camaro there is more pluses for it than a mustang. Now about the cost of a mustang compared to a mustang. Exclude cobras and ss b/c frankly I have never had enough money to even consider one being only 18. Brand new the mustang was cheaper to by than a camaro whether v6 ro v8. But i also found that used the camaro depreciates a lot fast than the mustang did. So in about 4 years the cars cost about the same used. Now I dunno if this made any sense to any of you nor do I really care but this was how things were for me. I wasn't loyal to either car b4 i got my first z28. Now I won't ever buy anything else.
i can see your just not going to stop babbling are you?you havent proved a thing.i said the base price of both these cars were similar.you twisted it around and started posting this discounted car site BS.it means nothing.who mentioned anything about fbodies being discounted?are you not paying attention are just making things up to convince yourself youre right?i stated what fbodies stickered at with certtain options.i never mentioned about paying sticker or what people have paid.i just giving you an idea.keep making personal remarks and keep thinking youre right.because no one else does.
